Anyone else seen this? I thought it looked like a silly comedy that I wouldn't be interested in, but hubby wanted to see it, and it's gotten fairly good reviews.

Well, it was SO funny! It starts out just gross, and I was a little turned off, but it got much better. The one liners were just so good. It's amazing the number of big names in it - Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey both do small, funny roles.

Robert Downey Jr playing an Australian trying to be a black man was so funny. We saw it with another Aussie couple, and we cracked up particularly when they were poking fun of Aussie stuff.

If you want a giggle, go check it out

Thanks! I was curious about that one... and now I understand why the face under Robert Downey's name looks nothing like him..

My daughter took me to see it for my birthday ....
We were in pain from laughing.

If anti-politically correct humor offends you, stay away.
If an in your face satire about Hollywood and it's neurotic film industry characters sounds like it has possibilities to you,
TT should not be missed.

I intend to see it again...
I might have missed an offensive gem.

Matthew McConaughey as the well meaning but clueless agent fighting to get TIVO for his client was hilarious....his hair.

Tom Cruise was brilliant.
I am LOL just thinking about his dancing.

I love Matthew McConaughey, and his scenes were definitely hilarious!

And "Alpa Chino"! I loved this dialogue:

Kirk Lazarus: [to Tugg Speedman] What do you mean, "you people?"
Alpa Chino: [stares at Lazarus, and then gets angry] What do *you* mean, "you people?"
Kirk Lazarus: Huh?!

And Alpa with his "What's her name?" "Lance" - that whole scene was so funny.

Awesome!!! I've been wanting to see this, but I didn't know if it was worth the money to see it in theater! Maybe the SO and I will have to go see it this weekend!

Thanks for the heads up about it starting out gross!

I want to see it but haven't yet. I'm just wondering, is it general fun poking, or stereotypical stuff like 'they ride kangaroos to work and always say g'day'? I'm not too patriotic, but it's annoying when i see Americans trying to impersonate us and it all comes out wrong.

Not trying to be a party pooper

(i am absolutely in love and lust with Robert though..)

It's stereotypical - but it's done in such an over the top manner that it's funny. It's not like it's someone TRYING to be a real Australian, he's more doing a Steve Irwin/Paul Hogan/Russell Crowe type character.

We loved it too!!
If anything, I was disappointed with Jack Black, as I thought his character had the potential to be a lot funnier...And can't wait for the DVD for deleted scenes, as some of the scenes from trailers I saw weren't actually in the movie...I love DVD bonus features
