Wines from Chile are often overlooked but compare very favorably with French and California wines. And of course, they don't cost as much (most of them) for a suprisingly good wine. Having travelled extensively through Argentina (also good wines) and Chile, I understand that Italian is the second language and German is the third language, and the Italians and Germans have successfully transported their vines to this very fertile part of the world.

I do not drink wine, I just never developed a taste for it.
But I frequently check out Wine Woot, there are often some very good deals to be had there, and it seems a great way to sample the wares of many vineyards.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
We used to be able to drink wine - both from a health perspective and a financial perspective. There are MANY fabulous affordable wines out there! Unfortunately, it's not something we can do anymore.
But we used to drink a bottle just about every day!
We had lovely wines from all over the world. But my favorite "stand bys" were California cabernets. When in the mood for a dessert wine, this is insanely expensive, but my definition of heaven (at the time!) was the Chateau d'Yquem Sauterne.
No wonder that throughout the ages they've called wine the nectar of the Gods.

Ah, yes, Quady.
Some of the loveliest dessert wines. We are particularly fond of Elysium and Essensia.

As for other wines, we do enjoy our wine. It is a rare night that we don't have a glass (or two) of wine with dinner, and any dinner other than a "mere mid-week dinner" rates a bottle.

We drink many different varietals, red and white, depending what it's going with. Lately we've identified an Argentinian vintner, Finca Los Primos, as the "house wine" -- that which we want to have a few bottles of available at all times, in case of need. The Merlot is remarkable in that it goes well with almost anything you want a red for, and is a good sipper too. Likewise the Chardonnay for "white" meals. And the good news is that it's very very reasonably priced.

Chileans are good value, too; and I have to say, our BC wines are as good as the Europeans, the Aussies, the Californias, the South Africans. If perchance you should see Gray Monk Pinot Gris, please buy it, and the next thing you do is go find a nice salmon fillet and cook it ever so gently and serve it with some jasmine rice and a nice veg, maybe asparagus.

Another favourite varietal is Zinfandel, and Fetzer produces a nice one.

I'm no expert, but we've found some favourites over the years. We also have a neat deal with my stepson. He and his SO join us for Friday dinner fairly often. That's when we do our special meal of the week. He's developing a good sense of what's good and what's worth trying, so we drop $20 and he spends it, and we all win.

I forget to mention that I enjoy Vino Verde however there is not a wine shop around here that sells it!! So I pick some up when I visit my sis in Virginia (along with some Virginia wines) or the Chicago area.

For reds I await the Beaujolis Nuevo (sorry I know I cannot spell it) which comes out the 3rd thursday in November. That's my pizza and italian pasta wine for a few months every year.

I LOVE wine. Numnumnum. I have many favorites for many different occasions. I think at home we must have at least 70 bottles just sitting there waiting for me to crack open. I tend to collect them and buy in masses when I go to the wine store, hence why we have so many lol.

I like to have at least a glass every night. Although I havenâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t been drinking much over the past month due to the weather giving me migraines. Now I try and drink at least few days.

Friday is my “down a bottle, get drunk and play video games night†lol I do it every Friday just to relax and distress from my busy work week. I save my favorite wines for Fridays.

On a side note: Anyone ever hear of the word “Shickerâ€. I think it means alcoholic. My family uses it a lot to make fun of us if we had too much. I was just wondering where it came from, I can only assume itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s a Jewish word.

I LOVE Vino Verde!!! We luckily have a shop here that sells it. It's actually a large store called Total Wine, so if you get one in your area watch out!

I love a nice slow glass of Port in the winter (6 Grapes makes a great one) and I love a semi-dry white wine in summer.

Not an expert at all but I do love red blends.

I have Beringer White Zinfandel at home (used to drink Ernest & Julio Gallo W.Z.). Started drinking it because it was the only wine I knew
My mom was big into white zinfandel. Then she went to white merlot, which I thought was alright, kinda fruity. Now she's at pinot grigio, and the only pinot I've had was an Arbor Mist one at a cookout Saturday

So I'm a fan of white zinfandel
