My boss gave me the day off yesterday since we don't have patients Monday with the holiday and all...and it turned out to be a good day to be a girly girl!

I started out by getting my hair done for the first time in a year. Normal for me, but man did it perk me up! Then I had to get my license renewed...that wasn't fun but eh oh well! So then I headed to the mall (a place I rarely go!) to spend the jewelry store gift card DH had given me for our anniversary almost 3 months ago. On my way there I went through Sears and stopped to see if the shoes I'd seen in the clearance section were still there. (DH took me shoe shopping for him last weekend...it wasn't so fun.) Well they were....and they were an extra 30% off!
I ended up with 2 new pairs of shoes for well under $20!!! So then I hit the jewelry store. It wasn't a large amount on the gift card, but enough to get a pair of small white gold hoop earings like I'd wanted. On my way home I swung by the bagel shop and got a jalapeño-cheddar bagel, toasted with light cream cheese.

After that I couldn't help but think: I had my hair done, got new shoes, hit a sale, and jewelry. All that was missing was chocolate. Couldn't have asked for a better morning! I know it's just stuff and the shopping high fades pretty quick, but it's so rare for me, it just felt so good.

Can anyone relate or am I a total fruitcake??

I can't relate to a good shopping experience, because I really, really hate to shop. But I can relate to a stress free day and getting my hair done (which I did on Friday).

It's nice to have a day where you can just do things for yourself and take your time with it too.

I hope you get more days like that.

I love girly girl days. I don't get them enough either. My hair is in serious need of a dye, and every time I look in the mirror I feel blah....getting it done next week though! To bad it's so hot, you could've ended the day with a bubble bath, a book, a glass of wine, and that chocolate!

Normally I'm not that big a fan of shopping either. It was more fun back when I was skinny and when I wasn't trying to save for a house!

So, now keep it in the back of your mind and when it gets cold out, the next time you get time to yourself, indulge! Oh, I think getting your hair done and doing some shopping first would make it perfect. Goes DH go hunting?? That would be a perfect time!

Nope. He's not a hunter or a fisher. But if he plans any backpacking trips or I get a day off that he doesn't have; that'll work perfectly!

It feels like playing hookey from school...no, of course I never did that!

Sounds like it was a perfect day!
I think made even better because it does happen so infrequently.

How often do we indulge ourselves and buy a pair of earrings and get awesome shoes for under $20....

I have off today and thought about seeing if any nail places are open. I've been really wanting to get my nails done again lately
After a few months I get bored with them or cant find time to go back, but I love how they bring out the bling
Everyone always says how having a french manicure brings out my engagement ring, and I can only imagine how it'd bring out the 1.5ct diamond ring on my right hand which was my grandma's wedding ring! That, and I feel a little more girly with them done.

I also want to get my hair done (add some turquoise to it) and I saw the perfect cut for that while looking through a book last time I got my hair cut for the wedding in Maine. I'm only gonna do one at a time though, which means nails will most likely come first (I dont have to sit there as long!)

I enjoy the occasional girly day
All that is on my list today is to go grocery shopping, go to the storage unit, eat lunch with Rob, maybe nails, and maybe treat myself to a pretzel at Auntie Anne's at the mall. And spend the other $7 on a giftcard for Palmetto Moon if I head that way.

My girly day failed yesterday
No nail places were open except one in the mall ... which had no customers so I took it as a bad sign! Then I waited an hour to get pink highlights in my hair, just for them to tell me when I sat in the chair that the only pink they have will wash out in a few washes (or they could bleach out my hair and charge me $125 for everything instead of $60)! So now I gotta wait til Thursday for a "girly day".

I had a girly-girl day last week. I went and had my hair cut and some more highlights put in (to disguise the gray!), my eyebrows waxed, and got a mani and pedi. All this was in anticipation of my 20th HS reunion last Saturday.

The reunion was a lot of fun, but the girly-girl day was heaven!!
