This kitten suddenly showed up yesterday. The kids next door stopped it just before it went into their backyard, where they have 2 pit bulls. They played with it a while, lost interest, and their mom said they can't keep it.

I had Dottie put it in our bathroom so we can take it down to the shelter. Extremely lovable, a motor like a Harley Davidson, and starving.

Now his tummy is nice is round. He's eaten frantically, and then a little more slowly, drank water, used his litter box.

He appears to be about 10 weeks old, judging by the ears. He's clean (except for ear mites, maybe), no signs of fleas, so he can't have been out very long.

He's adorable. If he's litterbox trained, could he be somebody's pet who got lost? Have you thought of putting an ad in the paper before you take him to a shelter? I don't know how other newspapers work, but out local paper will print "Lost and Found" ads for free.

He is very cute! If his stomach is very round it's a sign that he may have a heavy worm infestation, here we use panacure for worming kittens but best to ask a vet.

Kittens this age are out and about all the time. The get to the 6-8 week stage, living in a comfortable home with mama. Then they have a few little accidents or break a few things around the house, and dad or mom says, "Those kittens are NOT staying in this house," and put them outside.

He was definitely living in a house. As I said, he was clean. And I would guess he had been outside about a week, judging by how skinny he was before we fed him.

We have a steady supply of them at the shelter, and fortunately, the lovable ones usually get adopted (if they don't get too sick first). We took him to the shelter, where he has to be held 3 days for a possible owner to claim him. And we put in a "stop kill" order, so we will either foster him or adopt him if he gets put on the PTS list.

Yes, Dottie fell in love with him, having him in the bathroom overnight!

If he was marked like your Chance, he wouldn't be in the shelter a week, I imagine.
