Ever since we brought Carl in and he and Pants have become comfortable with each other, I swear they talk to each other.

Pants will make a very specific noise that I've never heard him make to me or to Jess when he's looking for Carl. Carl spends a lot of time on our bed, and when Pants is out in the other room and wants to play or whatever, we'll here the noise, then he shows up in the doorway and does it again.

Carl also makes a very specific noise when he is playing/wants to play with Pants. He occasionally makes that same noise when he's looking for me or for Jess. It's a "where are you?" noise, I guess!

Supposedly, cats only vocalize with humans and not each other, but mine talk to each other! Anybody else's?

Rocky will howl when he wants to play, which usually brings one or both of the other two running and the chase is on. Other than that, there's no verbal communication I've witnessed.

Not really. Chynna stalks Abby and Abby screams and runs!

Speaking of talking, check out this adorable video. Make sure you have the sound up. They seem to be having quite the conversation.

Quite a few years ago Snowball had a companion cat named Midnight, who has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. Snowball was the alpha male and occasionally, I would hear him make a very low noise that was directed at Midnight. Mostly they seemed to just watch each other's body language.

Sassy does meow when he wants the other cats to play with him...

Pixie makes this cute little chirpy noise when she is grooming one of the other cats,

Linus is pretty quiet and you only really hear him at night if he is wandering around the house when everyone else is sleeping..He will walk around meowing until I call him then he sounds like a little race horse running in to get up on the bed...

Bella & Stan don't talk (Stan hardly ever makes more than a squeak -in general he's "Silent Bob"), but when we had neighbors with cats, she would get in the window sill and they would do little meows to each other. There was never any agression, it was very much like those two cats in the You tube video.

meow, meow...meow, meeeow, meow
I've not heard her "speak" much since they moved out next door.

Yes, they DO talk to each other. What do we humans know?
Persi talks to Alley all the time and Alley listens!
Here is proof! Here is a picture of Persi talking to Alley.
I gaurantee it!

Mine make chirping trilling noises to each other when they are playing or want to play. Sonic will do his fairly typical Oriental miaow that turns into a wail of rage if there is another cat sitting in one of 'his' spots. He is not top cat so the others ignore him, if he follows the horrendous noise with a warning smack on the nose, his 'victim' will hold him down and wash his face and ears until he submits
I love watching them interact with each other.

if milo wants to play with shinobi he will start making this 'mmmm' noise that sounds like it is a question, like he's asking him to play. the madder the play gets, the longer and higher pitched the 'mmmm's get!

tabby will grumble at the boys most of the time. when she walks into a room they are in she will meow/growl at them as if to say, 'now, i don't want any nonsense from you two'. she is the boss!

No, mine rarely make any noise at all except an occasional growl or hiss at each other... or a squeal here and there while wrestling.

Yes, but I think they speak different dialects of cat and there are a lot of mistranslations.

My cats talk to each other with different meows and, sometimes, growls and hisses. They too communicate with non-verbal signals. Some days they seem like they are mad to each other, you can feel the tension between the two. It's funny, just like people. LOL.

Talk to each other?? They talk to me! Flower and I have a convo almost every day! She meows at me untill I look at her and say something and then after I am done she meows again this usually goes on for a few min untill she walks away. My boy friend thinks I'm crazy when this happens, but she wont stop meowing untill I talk to her! When I was living at home we had three cats Lucy, Belle, and TigerLilly. Belle and TigerLilly talk all the time! They plot how there going to get in trubble next, I think! Belle is TigerLilly's boss and she meow orders at TigerLilly never said much back but when Belle would meow TigerLilly would come to her and they would be off getting into trubble! The kitten that I found the other night (I'm calling him little man right now because I have not named him yet) is not much of a talker, but he is out numbered by women in this house so it might not be that he dosent want to talk he might just not have a chance!

Mine do. They do chirrup and do a weird meow. They also talk a lot through body language.
Seldon talks his head off to me. He says Mama and then looks for me. I answer and he comes running.
