Portable/disposable litter box for travel

Has anybody used any of these before?
How did your kitty react on it?

For my upcoming travel, I've purchased the one from Swheat Scoop as that's what Ku Ku uses at home but I'd also like to know your comments & reviews on other products.

Either way, this box is for temporarily until I buy a new box once I get there & settled in the new destination. I'm listing it as the first priority but y'know how things are like when you relocate...

Why do you need a disposable litter box? All the ones you posted links to look to be about the same size as a standard litter box. So why not just use a standard litter box if you are going to need one once you get to your destination anyway?

I've seen disposable boxes at the box stores like Petsmart, and even at the major grocery stores, like Dominicks. I know one woman who just buys the disposables and tosses them every week - works for her and her cat.

I'll buy a standard litter box in the destination but I know that I'd need a disposable one as soon as we arrive at the new apartment. I'm sure she'd need it right away after 12+ hours of air travel - no bathroom-stop for her during the transit. I don't think she'd hold it until I get out & buy a regular litter box in the new town...

I haven't tried them for years. The husband of my boss 20 years ago invented the first disposable litter box and had a patent on them. As he was developing the product, she used to give us boxes to test out on our cats. The one he invented looks like the 2nd link. The bugs we worked out for her were things like: the box not fully sealed so the litter leaked out the edges, the top of the box wouldn't pull straight up and would sort of collapse. We worked out the bugs and he had a good business running eventually.

My advice: buy one now to test it out and if its convenient, use it during your move. Since there are so many styles and I haven't used any of these specifically, I can't vouch for any of them.

They used to have the fold up ones at the cat shows for the exhibitors to use. My show cats then had no problems using them. But Charlie is picky and its too flimsy on the sides for him to use (he likes to have a foot on the edge).

For awhile I'd just take a box top from the xerox boxes and cut in half, then slide together and tape them so the litter would not come out. Worked well for the shows - more sturdy then the others and I could dump the box at the show at the end of the weekend.

I kinda like the ones that you posted in the 2nd link - they are cool

I used to travel by car with Oliver the 4 hours between home and school when I was still in school... after like the first trip home, he had permanent boxes at home and at school, so I didn't want to use a "permanent" box just for the car ride (I put it on the front passenger floor board, and he will use it during the trip lol - don't worry, he's tethered - not free range where he could get under my feet... crating him leads to disaster) I just grabbed the disposable that Wegmans had - it's flimsy plastic with clumping litter but it works temporarily
