When Moses (the one who led the Israelites out of Egypt) was an infant his mom put him in a basket and floated him on the river to save him because the people who ruled the Israelites at the time were trying to kill the male babies. Every day Moses's sister, Mirian (i think was her name) would go and check on him. One day his little basket floated over to some bathing ladies - the Egyptian king's wife and her servants. They saw the baby and saved it- and she raised Moses as her own (Which is why he was eventually able to lead the Israelites out of Egypt).
So now does the "basket case" thing make sense
