Should 3-4 week old squeal during elimination? Maybe I'm doing something wrong??

I help my little guy eliminate at each feeding (4-5 times daily).

He squeals and squeals and squirms.

I'm using a soft piece of warm wetted tissue and gently rubbing his lower abdomen while holding him up so he pees/poops downward.

I'm also doing this after he eats, so it feels like he has a full little belly.

He pees great, but the poop doesn't come as easily. It's soft, lightly formed, and there's not too much of it.

Is this normal? Is there a better way?

Maybe he just doesn't like being held up? Should he be on his back? I'm sure his Mommy wouldn't be holding him up...

Thanks much.

I bottle fed kittens in the past and helped them to eliminate. I didn't rub their bellies. I actually lightly rubbed their bums. Never had a problem. I didn't stand them up though. K
ittens are normally wriggling and making noises, so not sure if that's a problem. Always see a vet when in doubt, or perhaps a phone call to the vet to ease your mind with any questions.

My cat just had kittens five days ago. Watching her, it looks like she usually has the kittens on their sides or backs, and she licks their bottoms, not the bellies. That may change as the kittens get older. And yes, they do a fair amount of squeaking.
