Strange Cat Behavior--Marching?

My 2 y/o neutered male has recently developed a very odd behavior. At night when we go to bed, he hops up on the bed and will try to straddle my ankles or a leg or whatever. He's not humping--just kind of marching in place back and forth with his back feet. All the while, his tail is doing this twitching thing. We've had him his whole life, nothing new has changed lately in our home, and he's just started doing this in the last few weeks. It's kind of annoying as he'll wake me up several times a night doing this. Any ideas?

Thanks!

It could be a temporary phase since he is 2 and that is still young. He found a toy and gets excited about it. Try keeping him out of your bedroom for a few nights and hope he finds another toy to distract him and forget all about your ankles and feet.

both my cats kinda do this but they are kneeding as they do it so maybe thats what he's doing? for my two it's more of a comfort thing as to say "ahh this is soft or comfy" lol

Thanks everyone, hopefully he's just a happy boy and is showing it in a new (and unusual) way.

My oldest cat does the same thing... usually when I am in the bathroom. She sees it as prime time for petting. Her tail will rattle so hard I can hear it against the bathroom wall. Your kitty is probably just showing love or excitement that it is cuddle time!
