We've had Piper and Poppy for 9, 10 weeks so far. The issue is Coriander hates them.... i don't believe this that cats are social!!
Whenever she sees them she goes ballistic. Hissing, snarling. Poppy is very protective of Piper and will go right at it. I guess Coriander might feel alienated because we foster so much, and she's kind of the last of the family- none of the animals particularly like her, such as the dog. She refuses to sleep in my room at night because the kittens are in there. Once we tried and she attacked the kittens through the cage. I really don't feel safe keeping them together, and I can't buy feliway or anything because I'm short enough on money as it is
Help?

If your room was HER room maybe move the kittens out of there at night? or she could just be trying to assert her dominance over them....as long as she doesn't draw blood it's okay. They are working things out. My cats still have hissy fits over each other 6 months later....but it is less and less. They are even PLAYING with each other now.

I have heard that this works very well, and is very inexpensive by comparison to Feliway.

Yes it works very well!
If you don't have any vanilla extract you can always give them a very light quick spray with your cologne or perfume. It has to be a very very light spray (you don't want their fur getting wet in any way because of the alcohol). Make sure to hold the bottle at least 2 feet away from them, if you do this.

The idea is to get just enough of a scent on them to trick them into thinking they smell the same.

Hope this helps!
