Naming the kittens.... - Page 2

Do people who adopt the cats actually keep the names you give them? I know I immediately renamed mine because I didn't particularly like the names they already had.

No, but the names pay to get them noticed. Sponge Bob was adopted because his name was Sponge Bob (which the people kept). Mufasa was adopted for his name (which was changed).

oooh, thought of another theme! Mairzy, Dozy, Doats, Lamzy... from the song!
Mairzy Doats

Names do matter and I know it from the shelter. People look at the ones with names they like even if they plan to change them.

Charlotte
Templeton
Wilbur
Henry

From Charlotte's Web. I was thinking of maybe popular children's books.
Aw, the Charlotte's Web names are cute! Maybe Aristocats names? Summer Olympics theme? (Freestyle, Relay, etc) I think I'm just about out of ideas!
oh oh!! I love the Olympic theme idea!!!!

You said you like Stargate SG-1... So why not name them after popular/famous Sci-Fi SHOWS?

For example, name them:

Stargate and Startrek for the "twin" Meezers
Babylon for the girl (for Babylon 5)
X-files for the Tabby

Or there are a lot of combinations, you could use YOUR favorite sci-fi shows. Just in case you like the idea and need help, here's a link to the top 100 sci-fi shows Check 'em out.

They are so cute!

The more I look into names, the more I wish I had 1,000 kittens to name!

Now that I know I have 3 boys/1 girl, all I keep coming up with are girl names.

In mockery of someone else at the shelter.....I want to name one Pickles. To go with Pickles, I thought up Bubbles. Now I need 2 more names that are along those lines....ending in 'es' for sure.

Cockles, Mussels, Relish [not 'es' but goes w/Pickles], Barbells... not sure what you're after. what about this, instead - Pickles, Relish, Ketchup & Mayo [or Mustard]?

Ok, Pickles for one, Bubbles and Bobbles for the "twins," and Chuckles for the other.

I can probably come up with more "les" names, but maybe you would like those!

I like Giggles and Wiggles too.

I can't wait to hear what you name them!

Actually, now that I think about it, one of Pixel's nicknames fits in with these things, although it is not a real word. We call her "Purrbles" because that is the noise she makes when she purrs.

Marbles? Turtles?

At the rate I'm going, they'll never have names. (Hey, I have....like 6+ more weeks before they go up for adoption to name them! )

Our latest themes are:

Ice cream flavours
The Jolie kids
Flinstones Characters
Hockey teams
Nature
Planets
Chocolate bars
Cereals
Greek Gods/Goddesses
Sesame St Characters
Composers
Flowers
Elements from the periodic table (can you see we are getting stuck for names)
Cocktails
Cities
Cars

I have our lists of kitten names for the year if you want a copy, just let me know by PM

Beijing Olympic Mascot Names:
Jingjing, Nini, Yingying, Beibei, and/or Huanhuan

Harry Potter:
Harry, Ron, Nevil, & Hermione

Dark Knight/Batman Names:
Bruce, Alfred, Harvey, & Rachel

Lion King:
Simba, Mufasa, Rafiki, & Nala

Italian Food:
Meatball, Pizza, Lasagna, & Cannelloni (i'm hungry, lol)

The Office:
Michael, Dwight, Jim, & Pam

Produce/Food:
Pickles, Pepper, Parsnip, & Pea.

And yeah, names matter The reason I kept coming back to Chloe's profile on Petfinder was because her name was 'Mattie', which is what we usually call Matilda. Most cats get re-named but it does help adoption.

So far....I've narrowed the names to these....and added more names in.

Freya/Heimdall/Loki/Thor
Isis/Osiris/Anubis or Apophis/Imhotep
Captain Nemo/Dorian Grey/Mina Harker/Nigel
Karma/Dharma/Nirvana/Zen
Pickles/Giggles/Wiggles/Bubbles

I'm sorting through the list Eithne/icklemiss got me....haven't added any of those names to my list.

of those choices, my preferences would be either Freya, Heimdall [altho i like Baldur or Odin better], Loki & Thor; or Pickles, Giggles, Wiggles & Bubbles

Pickles/Giggles/Wiggles/Bubbles get s my vote
post #51 of 60
I vote for Freya/Odin/Loki/Thor
I vote for Pickles, Wiggles, Giggles, and instead of Bubbles....Jiggles (because it rhymes).

I like Pickles, Wiggles, Giggles and Bubbles.

Me too!

Well. Okay, I don't really like Pickles because I HATE pickles as a food product, but it does go with the others and it's cute.

I'm worried about naming them Pickles/Giggles/Wiggles/Bubbles as these guys will have never been around kids. The "kid" at my house is 17 years old. Those names will be cutesy ones I'm afraid would attract parents of small children.

I'm leaning towards an X-Men theme now, too. The following are what are now in consideration:

Pegasus
Phoenix
Pixie/Fairy - Faerie
Griffin

Phoenix
Nightcrawler
Mystique
Storm
Rogue
Magento
Sabretooth
Professor X
Wolverine
(I couldn't pick just 4 names! )

Karma
Dharma
Nirvana
Zen

Pickles
Giggles
Wiggles
Bubbles

Elizabeth Swann
Pintel & Ragetti
Jack Sparrow
I really like the Karma names but got a no on naming ours them just in case it put off adopters (but we can name them Hugh and Filbert )

Actually your meezers look like my Mystique & Phoenix so I say go with them with Storm for the black and Rogue for the tabby

OK, so I have to post this now before I change my mind again!

The kittens are...named!

Oh, I bet you'd like to know the names, huh?

Introducing....

Phoenix!

Pyro!

And Rogue (black) & Wolverine (tabby)

It only took me 2 weeks to name them!

oooooh, X-cats!

I know! I was going with the Pickles/Giggles/etc theme, but got beat to it at the shelter. I need to learn to not be so indecisive.

I love their names!!! Especially Rogue - it suits her! I love the photo of Rogue and Wolverine cuddling.
