For the longest time now, I thought Bella didn't know how to purr. I had never, ever heard her purr. Some time back however, I put my head down on her stomach and I heard it!!!!
She was purring!! I have still never heard her purr audibly. The only time I can hear her do it is if I put my ear to her stomach. Anyone else have a cat who purrs silently?

Punkin will purr if you pick him up, although he immediately starts wiggling, trying to get down. But if you don't have your hand up by his chest, you'll never know he's purring.

Elsa also purrs almost inaudibly - I always thought it was due to being formerly feral, and fear of discovery...

Luvbug barely purrs. You have to put your head up against him just to hear it. He's a real sweetheart though (He came along way from a stray).

my yoshi has such a quiet purr - what i do to appreciate it is gently rest a finger or 2 over her throat so i can feel it vibrate instead. it's a lovely feeling!
