My Oliver has been scratching lately and I was checking him out for scabs and I discovered what I thought looked like a pimple...or is it a nipple? You can see the location of it (under his front leg, in the top left of the first photo--I pushed the hair away) and a close up of it...any thoughts?

Looks about right for a nipple. See if you find another one just like it, directly south.

I have 2 male cats and have always wondered why. I guess it's the same for humans...?

You know that the reason for nipples on men was one of Lincoln's jokes...so the question has been around for a while!

Thanks for the responses, I just wanted to make sure everything was ok with my boy

I think the reason males have nipples (this was actually the title of a book of facts) is that all animals start out as females, but at some point some become males and have already developed nipples.

I remember reading an article a long time ago about how some human men actually lactate (usually out of one erm...pec..breast?) when their SO is preggers. I suppose it's possible that men used to lactate in the past, but gradually through evolution lost their need to.

Hee, I had to ask my roommate if male cats had nipples when I got Hennessy. She gave me the funniest look...

I was used to male rats... which do not!
