I've been trying to get my parents to get a kitten.
My Mom would love having one, my Dad on the other hand is a different story. He likes animals but would rather not deal with having one in the house I guess. I just thought it would be nice for my Mom to have a cuddly friend. Plus I would get to see the kitten everytime I go over there. (all the time)
Any ideas on how I could conive, I mean convince my Dad they need a kitten?

You can't. But maybe you can sit down and ask Dad what his objections are. Then write them down and do a little research on whatever he says to show him that most is not true; e.g. don't want a cat cause they claw everything.........counter that with "clip nails once a week, get nail caps to prevent clawing, etc."

If you do it as a young adult and not a whining child, you may change your dad's mind. Then you stand a better chance of adopting a kitten.

Remember don't adopt a kitten less then 3 months old. They need time with mom and silblings to be emotionally ready to leave (and to be completely weaned - kittens are NOT weaned at 6-8 weeks old!

Also most of your bad habits that your dad might not like will occur in young kittens, so if you get an older one, less problems

Well I already know my Dads biggest concern. When I was growing up and had Popsie he would not use the litter box sometimes. My Dad just doesn't want anymore animal messes in the house.

That's understandable but not every cat is like that. There are reasons why they don't and 99% of them are solvable.

If you agree to keep the litter pan in your room and keep it clean, your dad may say ok. Anytime a cat doesn't want to use one, you have to figure out why. For males it could be a urinary track infection and he needs to see the vet.
