Ok, so I have new fosters, maybe 2 months old. The previous lady they were with told me that just this morning, one started sneezing, and one had a weepy eye. Well, I can tell you, now, all four are sneezing.

I've never had any kitten with any health issue before, so I really don't know how to identify if this is a URI or what. I have done research on here and the internet, but there are so many things that can cause sneezing.

Here are pictures of the weepy eye and an eye booger, so maybe you can help me figure out if these guys look like they're sick:

Weepy eyes, we have meds to treat these:

Eye booger:

The foster group basically told me to just let them go for now, and by Monday we should be able to tell for sure. So in the mean time, is there anything I can do to try to stop it from manifesting?? I mean, if they were humans coming down with a cold, I wipe their faces, keep them warm and out of a breeze... Would that help these guys??

Thanks so much for anything you can advise me with! Or even just for reading.

Yeah, but now I've noticed all four of them sneezing...

You don't know of any magical kitten chicken soup to prevent it turning in to a URI, do you??

Thanks.

Stress triggers lots of things in kitties, one of them being URIs, especially if they have feline herpes. There's nothing you can really do to stop the infection, except get them to the vet and get antibiotics for them. You can do a lot to help them feel better and breathe easier, though. If you have a vaporizer, confine them to one room with the vaporizer running. Add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil to the water if you have some. If you don't have a vaporizer, turn the shower on as hot as you can, then turn it off and bring them in the bathroom with you and shut the door. Keep them in there until the steam dissipates. If they're very congested, you can dab a bit of baby Vick's on the top of their noses (just a wee little dab) out of the reach of the tongue.

Make sure they keep eating and drinking. That's absolutely crucial! Watch them like a hawk to be sure they're eating properly. Clean the eyes with a warm cloth.

If it is herpes, lysine can help reduce the length and severity of the symptoms as it prevents/limits the virus' ability to replicate. You can buy it in capsule form and open them and add to food or water. The amount would depend on the weight of the kittens, I give about 500 to 1000 mg a day to an adult cat fighting a URI, so a 2 month old kitten I would think should get about 1/4 of that....I'm not a vet, that's just my experience.

Thank you! If they seem to get congested I will definitely do that. I am watching them closely, and they are all eating and drinking. They don't like their food too much, though, so today we go shopping!
Thanks for the tips!

Yeah, and he still is! But he is SO loving with us... Weirdo!

Thanks. I have the foster bringing over some Lysine either tonight or tomorrow, so we will try that. Thanks for the idea!
