Well the potential adopter's name is Lisa, and she's from France. She's here in Singapore for work, and hopes to stay long-term because she loves it here. She also said that any cat she adopts in Singapore will follow her to France if she goes back

She didn't fall head-over-heels with Chance, but I think they got along pretty well. She likes that he's a cuddler, and that he's so playful and fun to be with, but she and I were both concerned over her working hours. She is doing stem cell research work, and her hours could get long sometimes, depending on her experiments. I told her that leaving Chance alone for long periods of time would not be fair to him, especially since he's so young and loves to have someone to play with. She is meeting other potential kittens, so she'll decide by tonight.

After she left, Chance had his playtime downstairs, and I managed to snap some photos of him... Enjoy! (sorry again about the lousy quality)

Checking out his reflection in the sliding door. Right after this pic was taken, he puffed up his tail and did the "I'm menacing!" tiptoe walk, and then promptly turned tail and ran away

He's begging for a taste of my Haagen-Daaz *yum!*Of course I didn't give him any, but I gave him points for persistence

"Hey, that smells grreat..."

"Can I have some? Please please please??"

This is a floor mat. Its quite huge, and it was rolled up and propped up against a wall. Chance took up the challenge, and regretted it when he couldn't get himself back down again and started calling for help
3 seconds after being lifted down, he climbed back up again! This time, I took photos instead of helping immediately (I'm mean I know)

"Uh oh, I don't know how to get down from here."

"Can't get down from inside either! Hey meowmy, stop laughing and help me down!!"

"Alright, just one last shot, THEN you'll have to help me down..."

Don't know what he's doing here, just sniffin' and checking things out I suppose

Oh, darling Chance! He's as cute as ever!
And look how brave and adventurous he is! And he knows his meowmy will be there for him.

I hope things work out for Chance and Lisa- even if that means not Chance because she can't give him enough time.

You are doing such a wonderful job with him!!

Good news! Chance tested negative for FeLV and FIV

I told the vet techs to test for FIP at the same time, and they did not protest beforehand. However when they told me the results (neg for FeLV and FIV), I asked them about his FIP status, and they said the testing process was "complicated" and chances are low that he would have it so they didn't test. I didn't know this kinda decisions could be made by the vet...

Chance was traumatised by the blood-taking, so even though I badly wanted to have him tested, I couldn't bear to make him go thru the same process again as it looked like they'd already used up all the blood they'd already drawn from him. Sigh~ Anyway, I'm just happy that his tests showed up clean =)

I sms'ed Lisa to reject her as an adopter. She replied to say she agreed that she would not have time for him, and had already found a 5 month old kitten who was more suitable for her. Hopefully Chance will find a suitable forever home soon... Meanwhile, the plan for him to go to his new foster on Friday evening still stands. His new foster meowmy has 7 cats of her own! I'm looking forward to meeting them, and I'll try to snap some pictures for you.

That's awesome. I hope he likes his new situation and finds a great furrever home really quickly.

Sigh~ Chance's Bene-Bac is finished and his poop is still soft. I just had a shower and a change of clothes and he's wiped his poopy butt all over me again
Looks like its another trip to the vet for him tomorrow.

He's laying in my lap being warm and soft though

Here are some pix of his playtime downstairs just now... As usual I seem hopelessly incapable of taking good quality photos of him hehe

Snuggling in my arms...

Watching his toy, getting ready to ATTACK!

Here are some photos from this morning... Chance having a cuddle and a tongue-bath at the same time:

He's trying to catch his tail in my lap. It resulted in my thighs being all scratched up. I think I will have to wear jeans next time

Having yet another lap session downstairs while I watched TV

And then he decided he would watch TV too!

In the afternoon, I brought Chance to my trusted vet. His Bene-Bac is finished, but his poop is still soft sometimes. Vet prescribed some live bacteria to ensure that his tummy makes a full recovery. This medication is actually meant for humans, but they prescribe it for pets too.

As a reward for being such a good boy, I bought him a scratch-toy-thing... Which has a bell that has captured his attention

"Ohh I'm gonna get you, evil bell thing!!"

He got so riled up playing with it that he even hissed twice

Whee! I managed to emerge unscathed after giving Chance a bath

By the way, I highly recommend the brand Earthbath for your doggies and kitties. Its 100% biodegradable, so its good for the planet. Its also good for your pet because its not tested on other animals, and there's also a hypoallergenic version for pets with sensitive skin! Its a great product. Here's a link you can check out: http://www.arcatapet.com/earthbath.c...e=GA-Earthbath

Chance's fur feels so much softer and cleaner after his bath. And I think he's forgiven me, for he's now curled up in my lap again having a snooze

it's a shame that the placement didn't work out with lisa as it'd would have been great to adopt him out so soon. but then it's better that you and she agreed that it wasn't the right thing for him. he is the most important person in all this after all!

the patience you have shown throughout the whole time is outstanding. i am under no elusion that chance is far stronger, emotionally and physically, because of your care. you are a star!

he is such a gorgeous baby and i am sure that he will find a wonderful, forever home before too long.

Thank you for your kind words, I'm only doing what I should since I volunteered to foster this little boy
Well, today's the last day he's with me. I'm seriously going to miss his presence in my house. My place will be back to what it used to be: Clean, sterile, orderly... All the things it should NOT be
I will be visiting the new foster and her fur-crew this evening to hand Chance over to her, will try to catch a few pictures then. I'm not sure if I'm able to get anymore pictures of Chance after today. There will be updates, but most likely they won't be of all the cute stuff he's doing, but mostly news about potential adopters. I wonder if I'll get to see him again

Change of plans! Chance stays with me till Sunday evening. Lynn knows someone who has a cat shelter. Its having an adoption drive over the weekend and she's booked Chance a space. I'm going to have a shower and bring him down as soon as I finish this post

Some pix of Chance I got yesterday - doing what he does best: CUDDLING the snot out of you

Back to his carrier to have a snooze... Check out his black paw pads! So cool...

Oops, woke him up.

I lost him in a forest of chair-legs!

Well there's yet another twist in plans for Chance. I brought him to the cat shelter, which is actually a nice lady's house. She's got a ton of cats there all awaiting adoption. Her house is rather spacious, and she's converted most of it into a cattery. Many many pics of her rescued kitties coming up soon...

Chance didn't take well to being in an environment full of strange cats, he hissed at practically any cat he saw. I stayed with him through the day, and encouraged him to mix around with the adult cats, who were actually quite nice to him. Toward afternoon, he started becoming more relaxed, which was a relief. Some folks came to see him, but for some reason they all didn't want him even though he was on his best behaviour with them

Chance is staying there overnight as it is a long drive and we didn't want him to be too stressed out. If he is not adopted by tomorrow, I will be bringing him to his new foster meowmy's home. Unfortunately, this means that Chance has seen the last of my house. I'm beyond sad at the thought of not waking up to see his cute little face and have his warmth cuddled in my lap as I watch TV or type posts in TCS... But that's okay, my priority now is to find him a great furever home. Wish me luck for tomorrow!

Final change in plans. Chance did not go to the new foster's home. Turns out the lady could only foster him till end-September and she didn't find it necessary to share that little fact with me. Methinks she was only interested in getting a kitten to play with for a month.

Phyllis (lady who converted her house into a cattery) will board Chance and try to find a home for him instead. She has a wide network of cat-lovers, and this makes it easier for Chance to find a home.

Chance has become something of a star there, being one of the few kittens among a bunch of adult cats. He has since stopped hissing at every cat he sees, but still can't resist trying to pick a fight with the adults. Good thing they are good-tempered and just hiss back at him
I think a good thwap on the head from one of the adults will cure him of his kittenish pranks, the silly boy

I really miss having my boy at home, but I will be going to see him next weekend. Pix then. Meanwhile, pix of the rest of the cats at Phyllis' place in separate thread here.

Awwwwwww! Poor guy! I hope Chance will find a new home at the Cattery - with her wide network, she hopefully will be able to find him a home. He is definitely cute and his reddish hue makes him look Abyssinian (do you know if he has any in him?). It does seem though that he needs to be in a place for one cat only - some cats are just like that. He is hardly alone in that regard - some cats have to have their own place and they even seem to give off those vibes. They need to be the only furchild,

If he is part Abyssinian, there are some A Rescue Groups that might help???

I am sorry he did not adjust to your place- sounds like it would have been a great place for him until he finds a forever home. Best of luck to him - and you!

btw, LOVE the pictures!

Thanks for your kind words and wishes of luck! Everyone except the vet agrees that he's got some Aby in him. Unfortunately we do not have breed-specific rescue groups in Singapore. Chance's background is complicated seeing that he came from a hoarder with 30 over cats, so there's no way I can tell if he had an Aby parent.

I wish I could keep him, unfortunately, my parents would never hear of it. I'm fostering him while they are abroad for work.

I think he doesn't have the only-furkid attitude, he was probably just scared witless on Saturday since it was a whole-new environment FILLED to the brim with huge adults. He's since come out of his shell and is letting himself be sniffed. Hopefully, he will start to learn how to play with adults. Of course, if he proves that he needs to go to an only-cat home, then that's what we'll arrange for him

Chance is adopted!

I have mixed feelings. The adopter was present at the adoption drive yesterday, a young teenager who came with her two aunts. She liked Chance and constantly played with him and carried him. However, what I didn't like was that she kept hanging onto him and grabbing him when he was feeling playful and wanted to go to his toys. I don't like it when people force their will on animals, but what can I say, I'm just his foster meowmy... and I've already passed him on to Phyllis yesterday

But its a really good thing that he's found a furever home. I should be happy... I'm just being terribly possessive and protective aren't I? I guess its time to close this thread.

i'm delighted chance has been adopted and understand your feelings too. you have really been through the mill with this little man. it is totally understandable that you would feel terribly protective towards him.

my daughter is 15 and she loves our cats to bits, but she can be a bit full on with them at times. however, they all love her and spend a lot of time with her so i guess it's not a problem to them!

i'm thinking that this girl was probably pretty excited and maybe she hasn't learnt any kitty manners yet. they'll be a follow up visit as well though won't there?
