I can't thank you enough for the love and vibes for Chance... He purrs his appreciation

He had a little runny poop last night. I could literally see poop trailing from his sleeping area to the littterbox. Even though its runny poop, its definitely not as bad as it was two days ago!

Some day I'll have to take a recording of his vocalizations for you guys, its really the cutest thing, but for now, a breakfast piccie!

Everytime I try to snap his face, he turns away... So this is the best I can do, snap when he's busy chowing down!

I went home during lunchtime to give Chance his eye medication and his lunch. He was, as usual, really happy to see me... But when he flipped on his back for his tummy rubs, I noticed that his butt was covered with soft poop.

After washing, it became apparent that his butt had gotten even more sore over the past few days due to the poop that sticks to his butt. I do try to wash him as often as I can, but apparently this isn't enough. I'm afraid it may get infected or something.

Feeling a little lost now... I do hate seeing him so sore. It must be uncomfortable. He only complains when I wash him or wipe his butt with wet cotton wool, but I know cats are champions at keeping their pain hidden.

I just feel that maybe I'm doing something wrong that's causing him more pain. It just doesn't make sense that his butt looked BETTER when his diarrhoea was worse before, and now that his diarrhoea is getting better, his butt looks worse!

I hope his diarrhoea completely dries up soon and that the butt sore will go away

Meanwhile, has anyone ever encountered such butt sores due to diarrhoea and how did you help your kitty? Any advice will be much appreciated.

New pix of Chance taken a couple of hours ago when he came downstairs for his evening playtime! As usual, they're phone camera quality, which really sucks

Ready... Set... POUNCE!!

GOTCHA!!! Right, now I'm bored...

Hey, there's something interesting happening in the tellybox!

He's beautiful! Have you tried mixing some plain cooked rice into some wet food for him? That always helped when Stan got runny poo...although this sounds like maybe it's parasites and not just upset tummy.

for improved poos...now to get into the really gross stuff, I bet the poor little guy is more sore now because more of it is sticking to him (as opposed to liquid that just runs off).

My little Abyssinian-DSH-Wallaby mix has learnt how to escape from his enclosure... I think I can look forward to all my belongings and table to be covered with kitten poop and all my wires chewed to small bits

Thanks for the advice, I've actually tried the rice method but it helped only slightly. I brought him to a better vet and she prescribed Bene-Bac, which helped tremendously within only a matter of one day! He still has soft poop, but its nowhere near as bad as it first was. He can control his poop now..YAY!

Oh yeah I suppose it does make sense that his poop is sticking more to his bum now, hence he's more sore than before.. I didn't think of it that way

Chance is still quite good with going back to his enclosure to sleep, I hope he keeps doing that because his runny poop has a higher likelihood of leaking out when he's sleepy or sleeping. Thanks for the vibes!! We need loads

Aw, Chance is as darling as ever! Vibes for his continued improvement!

Just a thought, does he cry now more than he did before? Because if you think him poor little bum is more sore because it looks worse, I had a thought. I don't know if this aplies to cats, but I know for me (and accident prone hubby and a few kids I've bandaged), sores tend to look worse as they heal. So maybe it just looks worse but is actually starting to heal? Just a random thought, I'm sure you know him best!

The good news is that he had actually stopped crying out after his 3rd or 4th day with me. Not quite sure why though. His bum does look a little better today, which corresponds with his poop leakage lessening

He's definitely feeling good. Right now, he's going absolutely BALLISTIC, tearing around my room like he's high on speed. He's spilled his water, spilled his kibble, is tearing up newspaper, smashing all his toys on the floor like a champion wrestler, and challenging my bag to a fight all at the same time
Of course, pictures of him right now would be impossible, but I did take some in the afternoon.. Here they are!

These are of him playing in the afternoon, still quite mild compared to what he's doing right now

Tuckered out after a hard play session. Awwwwww...
(I realise that smear above his head kinda looks like blood, but its a picture of a goldfish in the newspapers)

I'm going to say goodbye to my darling foster boy Chance this Friday. I cannot keep him for too long as my parents are due to return to Singapore soon. Chance will be cared for by another foster meowmy till he finds a good furever home. I'm gonna miss that naughty little bugger...

I have taken Thursday and Friday off to play with him and spend some time with him before he goes to his new foster home. Its gonna be a bitter-sweet birthday for me (this Thursday)

oh that is sad!
but you know that you have given that little fella an incredible boost by your kindness and love.

enjoy the rest of your time together and remember, when you say goodbye to him he is moving another step closer to finding his forever home. he'll never forget you.

Thanks for your kind words

More good news, he'll be meeting a potential adopter tonight! She's just settled in Singapore from abroad (not too sure where she's from but she sounds European over the phone). I'm going to ask her plenty of questions before deciding, so I'll keep you guys updated.

Meanwhile, I'll need some Good Luck vibes. Chance is visiting the vet tomorrow evening to test for FIV, and whatever else he should be tested for. Since his flu has kinda cleared up, I'm also going to ask the vet if he can be vaccinated. I hope his tests come back clear... The sweet boy deserves a long, full, healthy life after what he's been through
