Today's KatKwiz was about getting e-mails sent to you regarding your subsciptions.

Do you ever use this feature (being sent e-mails)? If so, how often to you have e-mails regarding your subsciptions? Do you ever use the List Subscriptions feature? Have you ever used any of the things in Edit Options before? Have you ever used any of the things in Subscribed Threads before?

I've used the subscribe feature on other forums before but not on TCS. I'm pretty much on here a lot so I don't use email to alert me for this site. It is a nice feature though. I've used invisible mode before. I'm pretty sure that's in edit options.

I have never used the option to have emails sent to my personal home account to notify me of replies to a specific thread. I have way too much email as it is, I dont need to create more. When I sign on to TCS I go straight to my UserCP which will show me right away if there has been a reply to anything I have made a post to, because I automatically subscribe to everything I participate in. So to answer your second question - not ever - I dont receive emails often concerning subscriptions, because I dont use that option. Answering your third question, yes - I always use the list subscription feature. This way I can easily keep track of all the posts I have an interest in. Sometimes I have had to unsubscribe from a thread because I found I was getting a lot of notices about a particular thread when it was just a lot of "high fives". But it is as easy as hitting a button.

I definitely have used the "Edit Options" feature in my Control Panel! In particular, I use the pop-up notification when receiving new PMs. My "show avatars", "show signatures" and "show images" is also enable, but I am not sure that that isnt the default option. Also, my "enable private messaging" is checked, which I assume is another automatic option. I know I have fiddle with the time zones and have at least checked on it when it was a KatKwiz question. And lastly, I change the forum skin quite often. I like to have a change of scenery, so go there all the time, probably at least monthly, sometimes weekly.

I just had to check - I have 280 subscribed threads right now.... I love that mouse-over feature! Only a handful of them are current. I really need to go in there and clean them out. Most of them are KatKwerys (or is it Kweries?) and KatKwizes (Kwizzes?) My oldest one was subcribed to months ago, in March! I guess I really do need to clean it up. Ha! I always have this thought that the minute I remove it from my list, someone will reply to an old message, then I'll miss it

It probably doesnt hurt to leave them there. How does everybody else do it? I imagine somebody does it like me. How many sub. threads are you tracking??? And how many of those are current?

Maybe if I posted a critical question or topic I might consider requesting an email... it's still early. Guess we'll see

NO!!! I try my best not to use this, my e-mail gets full up with stuff and somedays I average about 300 e-mails per day from another site! Its not fun.... I have used some of the things on the Edit Options, like I always recieve pop up notification of new private messaging and I allow v-card downloading and stuff like that! If Im trying to make the most of a page I will take off the signatures and avatars and stuff too but I never take the images out because that would just ruin some threads! I have my time set through there and my skin that Im using! So I use the options frequently I guess! All the time!
And the no advertising! I have that set up so I dont get the advertising!

Nope, I never use that feature. I don't like email like that. I consider it junk. No offense TCS.
If it's not personal to me, I don't want it cluttering my inbox! And besides, I'll be on TCS as soon as I can, anyway.


No, don't use the list subscirption feature, either. Didn't know about it! That does sound interesting, though. Maybe I should consider it! I may have used the edit options. Should have looked at that before I replied! But now that I'm here, don't want to lose my response, so I'm not sure what all is under edit options! I know I've done a signature, avatar... And changed some options, like PMs and such. So if those are under edit options, then yes!


Since I've never used subscirbed threads before, no, I've never used any of the things in it before!

nope, not me! i get enough email! i have my preferences set to 'no email notification'. that said - i subscribe to EVERYTHING i post in, plus occasionally add a subscription to a particular thread in which i haven't posted. my bookmarked TCS link is that of my subscribed threads [your List Subscriptions feature, in other words]. it's the 1st place i come. i check all my subscribed threads for new posts, then start looking around... depending on the time of day when i get here, i go to New Posts. today, because it was so late, i ran a search for today's KatKwiz & KatKwery so that i could post [after deleting my subscription to yesterday's, btw]. i've used several different things in Edit Options & List Subscriptions - the latter usually when i'm deleting old subscriptions.

btw, just FYI - i am currently subscribed to 4,475 threads [most of them quite elderly!

That's exactly what I do!!!! I knew someone out there had to be the same.

I discovered I could set my preferences to automatically subscribe to anything I reply to pretty early on. I like this feature so i dont have to remember what I've subscribed to, or go looking for it.

My bookmark is also set to my UserCP, actually it is my home page
(pathetic or what?) which shows any new messages to my subscribed threads. The old threads arent displayed unless there is a new message or I click on the "view [all] subscribed threads" link.

And since log in is saved, I dont really have to sign in everyday, the account remembers me and as soon as I hit my "house" and go to my homepage, I'm automatically signed in and viewing new posts to the threads.

...and WOW!! That's a lot of sub.threads!!!! I dont even half as many total posts under my belt
Have fun cleaning that up
