Can upload images for your signature - yes/no question.

Here is a question that came up from the August 13 KatKwiz:

When you select User CP and then select Edit Signature, when you look down at the bottom of the Signature Permissions box, there is an entry that reads "Can upload images for your signature". Some of us have yes and some of us have no. So the question is why do some of us have yes and some of us have no? Is it related to what level you are at, and if so, where is that documented? Here is the KatKwiz thread only if you are interested in what brought up the question. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174065&page=4
Thank you in advance,

Lee

As that member who posted a no is just at adult cat status I would guess that they did not have the ability to upload attachments as per the Titles and Perks thread - but I am sure a mod or admin can confirm

The titles and perks thread talks about Uploaded Attachments of 40K and 80K at certain levels but the Signature Picture is specifically for 29.3K no matter what level you are at. Despite the perks, when you look at the rules for Managed Attachments you see that they specify Managed Attachments can have a maximum size of 32.5K and only 400 X 400 pixels. So, Managed Attachments are different from Uploaded Attachments and there seem to be at least three rules that are documented concerning uploading of Picture Signatures, Upload Attachments, and Managed Attachments. I have always been told Managed and Uploaded Attachments were the same thing, but yet there is documentation showing otherwise and even more documentation showing that a Picture Signature is different yet. But, there has been no documentation uncovered that explains the problem we are having with when a member can start using the Signature Picture. Since I am a Top Cat and a premium member and can remember having this Signature Picture before attaining either status, there cannot be a mistake between the three, (a Managed Attachment, Uploaded Attachment, and a Signature Picture). Also, Managed Attachments show up in your Managed Attachments file and my Signature Picture is not in my Managed Attachments file. Since there are three sizes documented it would be very helpful if each of the three were defined. Since a Signature Picture is not an Uploaded attachment, we still need to know why some of us can do a Signature Picture and some of us can not.

I know they are different but since someone new can't upload anything to their attachments it would make sense that they can't upload to their space to hold a signature.

The limit of 29.3k on signatures is roughly 30,000 bytes and the maximum allowed under TCS rules so it has nothing to do with the size of upload.

I will ask a mod to come and confirm though.

My thoughts exactly!
