I have 2 Ragdoll cats. Both turning 9 this month. Generally healthy up until fairly recently. One of my guys was just recently ultrasound and diagnosed with the beginning of Heart disease and kidney failure. I have always had them on an excellent vet food diet but the ill cat has not eaten much over the past several months and seems to be getting pickier and pickier. On the weekend he hardly ate anything all day, ...on Saturday only about 10 dry pellets of food and finally Sunday he ate more about 50 pellets of food. I am trying to find a wet food that I can add water too (he likes very soupy foods) that he can enjoy so he can take in extra calories and water for the kidneys. At this point I don't care what food it is. I am assuming it is better for him to eat something rather than hardly eating anything. Can anyone suggest a good food for very picky cats. I have even tried giving him a little tuna juice and he has no interest... Any help would be appreciated.

I use to shake food cans in the store to find the flavors with the MOST juice. That's all my girl would drink was the juice. She would leave the food for the most part. She loved her treats, and laped water from the tap. 18 months later we sent her over the bridge. Good luck I know there some awsome people here that will help you. I read some threds on this site, that I wish I had found alot sooner. I might still have my Mamma Kitty if I had this place to learn from.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Hello, friend, welcome to the site, to you and your little ones. I'm so sorry your little guy has been diagnosed with crf and heart disease.
I truly understand that this can feel so overwhelming, as, my Sierra, too, has special kidneys. She is currently 14, and was diagnosed 4 years ago. To encourage you..through medication, supplementation and homemade diet, her labs are back within normal limits and she is doing terrific!

You've come to the right place for friends who empathize with what you're going through. Many of us have experienced or are currently experiencing this with our own babies. You may want to check out this thread where many of us have shared experiences and advice. http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=119727

Please feel free to pm me any time you feel like talking.

Aww, I know what you are going through.
My Popsie was recently diagnosed with CRF and I couldn't seem to get him to eat anything either. It is very common for kitties with CRF to get upset tummy's. You might want to talk to your vet about Pepcid AC. If his tummy is upset that might be what's causing the pickyness. As for types of food, my cat finally decided on a favorite. Friskies canned, country style dinner flavor, pate' style. I know Friskies isn't the healthiest but like you said, the important thing is giving them what they will eat.
