I have just discovered, in the usual disgusting manner, that Ella has a worm problem, or at least has had. The vet applied Advantage Multi on her, which I think is supposed to take care of that.

However, a little light suddenly went off. Knowing the life cycle of roundworms and hook worms, is it possible her nose problem is irritation from migrating worm larvae?

It may be possible, but I wouldn't think it would be too likely. Roundworm larva is usually coughed up from the lungs and swallowed, and hookworm migrates thru the skin into the bloodstream,I believe. Now, if she had earmites....THAT could cause nasal discharge. I have seen it many times.

Are you still seeing any wigglies? Advantage multi doesn't get rid of tapeworms, only earmites, fleas, hookworm, and roundworm.

I hadn't seen any, now I've suddenly seen several. Not tapeworm segments. It's been just over a week since we got her.

I actually have some Drontal (you did spell it right) here. I have an appointment for her to see the vet Monday. I'm just hoping she doesn't spread it to the other cats.

Were they moving around or dead? Has it been a week since she was treated or less? I've never used the Advantage multi myself, but I know treatment with Revolution will show worms 2 or 3 days afterwards and I have seen them pass at 5 or 6 days after treatment, if the cat was heavily infested. Also, it will depend on how often they "do the 2".
