When I text msg if it is long I may type "r u going 2 work 2day?" but that is just when I am texting on my phone. Otherwise, I am very found of good English.

I totally agree. I can't even use abbreviations for text messages! Long live good grammar and spelling!!

I can't STAND it when people type like that.
In fact if I get e-mail from someone and they use that kind of "language" I don't even answer them.

I figure if they couldn't take the time to spell out the word "you", then I can't take the time to answer their e-mail!

It drives me crazy! I hate it! My little sister does it all the time. It is very aggravating. Even when I was in high school, I never went through a phase where I typed like that. At best, I will not capitalize words to save time when text messaging, but I still spell out words and use correct punctuation.

Grammar & Spelling for the win!

Not if it's on a text message and it won't fit within the 80 spaces
I read your question just fine!

Although, my text messages look like this if I don't have enough room:

"hey babe. im going to my moms & ill be home by 730"

That's as bad as mine get.

I can't stand that. I didn't do it when I was a teenager, and I certainly won't do it now. I'm also quite proud of myself for not having used "lol" at all. Ever.

And it really bothers me to read the comments on the icanhazcheezburger pictures. So I don't.

Sometimes. I can read it perfectly, but can imagine that it takes awhile to make it "wrong"

When I'm handwriting stuff, I shorthand a lot like that (for my own benefit) but I cannot shortcut it other then a few things like "lol", "DH", etc. when I'm typing on the pc.

I do have a tendency to NOT capitalize when typing fast

That's why I do it on my phone, too.

The only word I "abbreviate" all the time is through, I always write it as thru
but anything else I spell out
It doesn't bother me per se, but it is aggravating to try to figure out what the heck they're trying to say sometimes

And really, that's not much of an abbreviation. "Thru" is not classified as a word but we all still recognize it as a word from "Drive-thru".

I can understand the need when texting, and having limited characters, and if I were into texting, I might find myself doing it, too -- in that situation. But otherwise, I find it very annoying. Here on the board, if it's just a few words, and is readily decipherable, I'll do so. But whole posts "written" this way, I'm afraid I just move on to the next one. Fortunately that doesn't happen too often.

Yes! It drive me bonkers!

I try to use proper grammar and spelling in my posts to show that I am paying attention and devoting thought to the content. When someone posts gobbledygoock I tend to dismiss it as un-important. Most forums have rules against it anyway!

Even texting I spell it out unless it absolutely will not fit without an 'r' or 'u' here or there.

However, I have some leeway...
Cat macros (or whatever sort of macro) I can forgive. That's a style. It's meant to be funny in part BECAUSE of the bad spelling and grammar, etc.

And the occasional 'pwned' or whathaveyou is fine, again because it's used for humor value.
