I have an HD camcorder I bought. it's a Canon HG10. It also has still picture capability obviously. But it's only 4 megapixel.

I was thinking about getting a camera, but I'm not sure what i'd see different. I have my eye on the Nikon D60 which is an SLR, but it comes with a lens. It's 10.2 megapixels and cost just over $600. I paid $900 for the Canon but it's now running around $600 as well.

But I'm wondering. For general, every day shots, is the D60 going to take pictures that are leaps and bounds better than what the HG10 does?

I would help ya..but I've never used a video camera that can take photos.....
if you're only using it for general everyday snapshots..I don't see why you would need an slr?
why not just buy a camera that can either fit in your pocket ...or one that has a 10x zoom lens...its not as heavy as an slr but you can get great photos from them...instead of lugging around a heavy slr or a video camera...
all depends on what your looking for.

Many of the photo people aren't on all day

You are going to notice a difference between a 4MP and 10MP without a doubt, but a camera is only as good as the person using it. It is a matter of knowing the features on the camera and using them properly.
