It's not the first time my cat Skitterz has had this issue. At first when he was a kitten a vet told me he gets blocked anal glands and i could squeeze them out if i wanted to but it's very painful. He also told me that Skitterz would only have this problem a few hours and he'd get better. Lately however I don't think this is the problem. Today I woke to my boy crying really loud, throwing up, liquid poop literally just pouring out of his bum and he gets temperatures. The least of the issue is that there are drops of poop all over my house when this happens but I really don't care about that as long as Skitterz gets better. He gets yearly checkups with the vet and gets all his shots. This is done every May. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered this problem? Is there something I should do for my boy. I find vets are just money hungry and will tell me to bring him in which would be an emergency visit and cost like $200 just to get him in the door! I love my son dearly but at the same time I don't want to over react to something that he may just get 2-3 times a year last for a day and go away and there really be nothing wrong with him. He does not go outside ever he's afraid of being outside so he couldn't have picked something up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be Coccidia. An animal can have it and not show signs unless stressed. It can be very dangerous with the water poos and vomiting. A cat can get dehydrated very quickly. He needs a fecal which will test for coccidia and then medication takes care of it. I understand you view on vets but I think this situation calls for one. I might try a different one than the one that told you it was anal glands. I don't think that would cause vomiting and diarrhea?? JMO.. Good luck

I ended up having to give Skitterz a bath. He was just covered in his poop and I really had no choice. I was then attacked by my other son Gizzmo just trying to protect his younger brother. By the end of the night Skitterz seemed to be coming back to himself and by next morning was eating and drinking again. I'm not 100% convinced it could be coccidia as I have another cat and dog and neither of them are ever sick. I also dog sit for my brother and his dog is not sick either. My Mom and I figure that Skitterz has had this problem about 4 times in 5.5 years. I'm really not sure why I would love to know why. If it helps I adopted him from the Toronto Humane Society when he was 5 months old. He was left on the doorstep with his brother who was adopted prior. He had an umbiblical cord hurnia and needed to have surgery at which time they also neutered him. I believe this was all done before he was even 3 months old. When i brought him home and took him to my then vet for a checkup i told the vet about all the black squiggley marks all over my carpet only since aquiring Skitterz and that's when he told me about full anal glands and that he was rubbing his bum on my floor to try to release them. I don't have carpet anymore so i don't really notice any markings on the floor except when he does get this problem of the runny bum! Drops everywhere in the house. I am at a loss here. I feel so bad for him he's a very sensitive cat. I do have a new vet and all 3 animals just had their checkups in May, everything they done they said they were all healthy. I'm just confused at this point I think.
