I have two cats. A four year old name Mattie (long haired half main coon--sister's cat) and a newly given kitten from a barn named Myrah (my cat). She came in the house 2 days ago. Myrah is 4 months old. Both are females and are indoors (Myrah use to be outdoors, but no more of that life). We are taking Myrah to the vet to have her shots and declawed within a few days.

First off, what are your opinions on Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul Lite?? What are good brands that you would consider rather than chicken soup?

Mattie has been on this CSL (chicken soup lite) for about 2-3 months because my hedgie is on the same diet, and I heard it was a grade A+ brand. She had been "off and on" having runny poo. Much like cowpatties. I thinking of mixing her food with the purina (the food she was originally on).

Well, we have Myrah on the same brand because my father wanted to keep her on the food. *annoying, yes...* Mom is out getting kitten food because she is having running poos now. I had to bath her because her crap was stuck on her butt and she was scrapping it on the floor.

We are looking for different alternatives now for food because this brand... is just not, NOT working.

Opinions are really appreciated. Moods haven't changed in Mattie. She always the same cat, even morethan 3 months ago. Myrah is still a hyper little kitty.

Please help! We are trying to keep Myrah because she is the sweetest kitten we have ever had.. But with her crapping like this, dad might send her back to the farm!

Hi

Many people like the food and the ingrediants are top rate. For the diarreah, get some acidoupholous from the health food store and sprinkle in the food. That should help

Well first, I am a little confused with how long you have had Myrah. If she just came in the house 2 days ago, is that when you started feeding her the food? If so then the switch in diet could cause her problems. Or since she hasn't been to the vet she could have worms, or other various bacteria/parasites that are causing this. Please don't give a kitten away (esp back to the barn!) just b/c of runny poop. There is a reason for it and hopefully once you figure it out she will stop! If she is still having runny poop and you are concerned about the floors, try confining her to one room (like a bathroom or laundry room) so she doesn't get the poo everywhere!

Also...have you been feeding her the chicken soup lite? I think Chicken Soup is great, started feeding mine that about a month ago. But she should be on kitten food, not lite food! She is a growing kitten and needs more calories than that.

One more thing, why do you want to get her declawed? There are many more humane, non-traumatizing, non-painful and safer (in case the kitty gets outside) options than to removes their claws
I believe there is a lot of information on this site about this! Please research and rethink this.

Continue to let us know how Myrah is doing and if you have any other questions!

I avoid LITE foods as they are OFTEN HIGHER In carbs and often increase wt rather than decrease ... the kitten of that line is a ALL stage and thus is good for babys and adults ...

the vet is a great thing glad your taking her... YOU may want to google declawing or do a search on this site as this is a ANTI declawing site for a IMHO good reason

She likely is not used to the richness of the food but have the vet check her for parasites...chicken soup is a good food at a decent price but often it can be too rich or too grainy for a particular cat ( it is far too soon to say as most cats take 2-4 weeks to adjust to a new food_)

I know about the soft paws thing because I researched it. I just wanted your guys opinion on declawing.
You trim the nails and put the plastic film over the nails to prevent them from being sharp. Once the nail grows out of it, clip the nails again and put the plastic film on. That what once peron told me yesterday because I was a little emphathetic for the cat's claws to be pulled out. It's like ripping my nails off.

Mostly when any new animal eats a new food, their bodies have to adjust. Digestive tract gets upset.
I'm just wondering if the food was the cause since Mattie was having runny poos from time to time.

Acidophilus! I have that for my hedgie.
Mine are the pill capsule form... A capsule every other day... or half everyday?

Don't worry about her being put back on the farm... I would never let her go back into the weather! Dad... no empathy I'm afraid.
That why I registered with you guys. I really appreciate the answers!!

We got Myrah kitten food tonight since I said the adult food doesnt have the nutrients and minerals that a growing kitten needs.

Thanks so much guys! This is my first cat (besides my sister's), and I want her to be the most spoiled kitty in the world!
