I came across this while surfing for 'cat pictures' on google. It's about the mis-treatment and slaughter of thousands (maybe millions) of cats in BeiJing, China in preparation for the Olympics.

I want to say here that I was born and raised in BeiJing, China and I love my city as much as hardcore New Yorkers love the Big Apple. But I love cats more. Seeing this broke my heart. Isn't there anything anyone can think to do?

Here's the article:

I don't know if this is still happening or if this will continue to happen. Please, lets try to do something to stop this! What about the people who run this site? Can someone get their attention? This is so heartbreaking!!

Oh goodness. That is awful. I started crying when I saw that first picture on the top. Those poor cats...just piled in those traps, so scared, and being dragged to a place where their life will end

Ditto. I will NOT be watching the Olympics. This is horrifying. Is it horrible to say I hate China? Because that's how I feel.

My family is not supporting the olympics in any way, we are not watching, nor are we buying anything from any company sponsering them.

I'm not going to mince my words on this topic, which is very close to my heart. For a long long time now, China has been mistreating its animals in the most disgusting way possible.

Bears are trapped from the wild, often resulting in missing limbs, then crammed into tiny cages and painfully milked for their bile through crudes holes punctured in their abdomens. They are starved so that they produce more bile. Their claws and teeth and smashed in so they cannot hurt the farmers. Baby bears are bred at such farms to quickly replace adults who succumb to illness brought on by the horrible living conditions there. (Btw, there are plenty of herbal alternatives to bile medication. In fact, China has a surplus of bile and are trying to integrate bile as an ingredient for day-to-day products like eyedrops and toothpaste to boost demand.)

Tigers are farmed for their exotic meat and parts like bones, skin and penises. Farmers swear on their mother's lives that they are "conserving" the tigers, but none of them are even fit to be released into the wild.

Dogs and cats are piled high in tiny cages to be served up as "fragrant meat". In fact, these people believe that the more a dog suffers before being killed, the more fragrant the meat will be, so they spare no expense in torturing them slowly. Before dogs are killed, their limbs are trussed up BEHIND their backs, effectively breaking all four limbs painfully... and that's only the start of the torture.

The Great Olypmpic Lie: Beijing has made "Olympic-designated" restaurants sign an agreement not to sell dog meat during the duration of the Olympics. This is obviously a bid to prevent other countries from finding out about the country's mistreatment of man's best friend. But come the close of the Olympics, you can be sure the eating of dogs, cats and a whole score of other animals not meant to be eaten will be slowly tortured and cooked just to provide an exotic meal.

Do visit www.animalsasia.org and www.animalsasia.org/blog for somemore details on how Animals Asia Foundation is working with the China government to try and help these animals unfortunate enough to be born in such a senseless country.

Oh and yes, I will DEFINITELY be boycotting Olympics and China as much as I can. The mere mention of that country boils my blood.

Thanks for that info and website, babywukong!

I am probably in the minority here, but I WILL be watching the Olympics. The athletes who have made it there have trained super hard and worked their butts off to get picked in their respective sports. The athletes have nothing to do with China or what is going on in China. I am going to support my country and our athletes in the Olympics. Just because I watch it does not mean I support China or anything they do. If anything, blame the stupid IOC for choosing China to host these Olympics, not the athletes. China is not the Olympics, they are just the host of the Olympics.

So on that note, Go team USA!!

Both my household and our office have switched to Pepsi

My opinions on anyone participating in the Olympics belong in IMO.
Also, WorldLink TV and FreeSpeech TV have aired shows about how China has treated the HUMANS because of the Olympics. I had seen a few newsreports on the missing homeless people in Beijing (part of the clean up preparations for the Olympics) - those people were homeless so that their humble abodes could be razed and new housing erected - spacious, modern housing for the Westerners to stay in. I saw a 1-room home that houses 10 people with less facilities in a campsite. the people interviewed said that the government gave them IOU's for new housing but the checks never arrived and many people were literally thrown into the streets and those who couldn't find shelter have been "moved". The government spokeswoman said that all displaced residents were given financial compensation so that they could relocate....Just EVIL, SO, SO EVIL!!!
Sending prayers and vibes out to those people, cats & dogs who are suffering unspeakable horrors all for the sake of the Olympics

This was on here a while back, and it is the very reason why I am boycotting the Olympics. I will not watch one single minute of it.

I saw a video on youtube about this....It was so upsetting and disturbing, about the worst stuff I've ever seen. They skin these animals alive quite often, it's horrific!

Unsure as to what the solution is, as China is a backwards country, to be honest. I'm not watching the Olympics.

Exactly. I won't even watch news reports and follow-ups about it. As soon as they come on, I change it or turn it off.
