Weird Question: How many times a day does your cat pee?

I'm trying to keep track of how much my cat is peeing in her box, because she's been going outside it sometimes, and I catch it way too late (usually after I notice that she hasn't peed in her box for a whole day).

I'm sure it's different for different cats, but what's the minimum, or maximum?

I'd be worried if mine were only peeing once a day - I have 3 cats and 3 litterboxes in dfferent rooms, so I don't always see them doing it (often they will go to another room for a little privacy) but I can hear them digging in the litter to cover up after themselves no matter where they are. I've never done a precise count, but I reckon mine pee 3 or 4 times a day each, on average.

Cats are prone to bladder and urinary tract infections and inflammation, so I think the best course of action is to see a vet - going outside the litter tray is often a sign of discomfort when peeing - it can also be a sign of stress or insecurity, too few toilets (if you have multiple cats they need at least 1 each), or they feel their trays aren't clean enough.

It's important to rule out any physical cause first as painful peeing is often a cause, so speak to your vet about a urine test to check pH and for signs of infection.

If you suspect that she hasn't been peeing, or you see the cat trying to pee and not producing urine, get her to a vet ASAP, if it is a blockage they can die in 48 hours-and who knows how many hours it takes for them to start showing signs. Also you can feel her tummy, right before her back legs, and if it is hard rush her to the vet-though this is not always the case.

Her not using her box may be a sign of this... I would take her to the vet as a preventitave measure, get a blood panel just in case. Also go to the pet store and get some Cat Attract litter additive, it usually works according to other members.
