Ok, most of you know that hub and I are self employed as caterers. With the rising cost of food/fuel/etc., we're experiencing a lull in business.....have been for awhile now, and really, without a lot of changes, or opening the dining room to the public, I'm afraid it's going to stay this way. So....seeing as most of our work is completed by lunchtime, I'm thinking of running an ad in our paper to see if I can get work cleaning house for other people in the afternoons. If memory serves me correctly, when I was able to pay someone once a week to come in and clean, she made a pretty good living doing it. Mind you, I hate to clean my own house, but have always found it easier to clean somewhere else...yeah, I know, I'm wierd, lol! Any ideas/thoughts, guys? Thanks!!

I've cleaned houses and made a fairly decent living at it. If you can get two houses in the same day then you can do one in the morning and one in the evening. Most people who do this nowadays will only do the dusting, vacuuming, clean bathrooms, mop floors and wipe down kitchen surfaces. If you want more, you have to pay a higher fee for it.

See, I could only get one a day, because of my 'other' job.....still, one a day, five days a week would be that much more money coming into this household than is ATM.
And this town has loads of doctors, lawyers, people with old money in it, ....I know I'd need references, but I can also get those from some of the wives who run in the same circles with said ladies because we've become friends with them doing catering for them.

I used to clean houses, I made really good money. My boss also catered. A lot of our clients, used her to do parties or special dinners.

What have you got to lose? If your catering picks back up you can always stop cleaning houses.

if you want to make your cleaning business easier (IMO anyway) - go for model homes and offices.

model homes were the best! since no real people dirt manufactured and no clutter! It was as staged home!

You mentioned a lot of doctors, etc in town. Can always try private business for cleaning too.

If it will help with your finances till the catering picks up, I'd do it. At least you would be working and getting paid. Might wind up making more

Check and see if you need to be bonded to do that since you are in other people houses.
