I am in taiwan, and I will translate this the best way I can.

My cat has been peeing on my bed, so I took a urine sample to the vet.

The vet said:
-Traces of crystals in the urine, if not treated it will create a blockage
-Urine is very concentrated, believe my cat is not drinking enough water
-Traces of infection, should medicate before becoming UTI

The vet has given me medication for the infection and crystallization. And recommends I get my cat to drink more. My cat enjoys tap water, which is not consumable by humans. My vet suggests that if that's the water he'll drink, I should let him drink it, also mentioning that it is not that bad. I have several water bowls in my house as well as one with running water. But he only wants to drink tap water.

My question is:
-Is my cat not drinking because it hurts to pee? Or is he not drinking water simply because he doesn't like the source?
-Traces of infection and crystallization? I thought it was yes or no?
-Vet suggested I change cat food, something better for his urinary tract. Is this neccessary?

My kitty needs help!! I just want to run over my vets opinions with everybody here. Thank you all so much in advance.

I can help you. My Cat just was on Antibiotics for 2 months for the same problem. She has C/D and Royal Canin Urinary food. If I try to give her other food teh problem comes back. this last problem came from a depo shot. If your Cat is a male he can block and die. I lost frisky that way. What med is your cat on?

he probably isn't drinking because cats just don't drink all that much... he can't make the connection between drinking & peeing. so there's probably something in the tap water that he likes the taste of... why isn't it ok for humans, btw?
a fountain [assuming you have access to such a thing] would encourage him to drink more. & you can add water to his wet food [assuming he eats wet] to increase his fluid intake, as well.

not necessarily. when i took my Chip [male] in, they didn't see infection, but did see some crystallization - i think Chip was either just beginning to come down w/something, or was just recovering from something.

probably would be a good idea... i stopped feeding the fish-based wet after Chip's bout. he still gets SOME fish, but nowhere near the amount he was getting prior to that.
Chip also ate the 'prescription' kibble for about a month. i didn't care for the ingredients, tho - the month gave me some time to do some research for dietary improvements i made on my own...

I got the test done because Pillow (my russian blue) has a habit of urinating on my bed. This has gone on since I got him about 1.5years ago... and I got blood tests but never urine tests because I figure UTI causes dripping and he doesn't drip, and he goes pee pee average 2.5 times a day, which is normal according to my experience.

The Vet said the numbers show that he only has very faint traces of UT problems. And that it shouldn't be the cause of his bed urinations. Rather it should be emotional. My cat is just very emotional... I just have to live with him randomly urinating on my bed I guess.

I'll try the new prescription diet and the medication.
