As I've mentioned elsewhere in the health forum, my 3 14 wk old kittens have been struggling on and off with bacterial overgrowth in their intestinal tract, causing alot of diarrhea for them, and lots of stress for me (not to mention vet bills!) Yesterday when visiting with a new vet, she suggested I switch them to a higher protein, low-carb wet food, rather than the Purina Kitten Chow I've been feeding. I know this is not the best food, but I felt it was all we could afford. Now that we've had so much trouble with their digestive system already, I'm thinking that we may be able to save ourselves some expense and save the kittens alot of health problems, too.
So, here's my big question: Is there an affordable canned food for kittens that is low in carbs? My husband is a minister, and I'm a housewife, so we don't have a very big budget to work with here. Also, I do not know what brands are available in my area...I'm in a small town with only Wal-mart and a few small pet shops, so no PetCo or PetSmart. But I'd like as many recommendations as I can get, just so I'll have a starting point when I go shopping!
Thanks in advance for your advice! I Love TCS!
