Hard to believe I ever seriously considered euthanizing this cat

I had MEGA issues with my darling Ophelia Rose. She attacked people, cats, dogs....she was a schitzo.

3 years later, look at her. She's living in peace with Bea (who doesn't like other cats), Dorian, & Molly. She sleeps in bed with me. She likes to be petted, and purrs like mad. She no longer attacks "her" people.....we just keep strange/new people out of the basement!

As I type this, she's trying to pick on Molly, but there are no longer incidents that require stitches.

Then she grabbed hold of the camera cord. Apparently it "grabbed" back & she was grossed out.

So meowmy rescued her from the evil camera cord by unhooking her paw. In repayment, she hissed & swatted at me. Yep, darling Ophelia Rose!

I think most of her temperament has to do with how she lived her first 3 years of life - fighting every day to survive.

But yes, I do think that deaf cats often do not do well in multi-cat households.

She has learned that if you do not like the kitty, back away & nothing happens. Either that, or go hide behind meowmy.

This is the first day I had her.....she doesn't exactly scream "cuddle me", does she?

I'm glad you decided to keep her and that she's since learnt how to "be nice"
She's a gorgeous darling

That last picture is so funny, with the look on her face! She really is a lovely cat. It's amazing what your patience has accomplished with her.

She's lovely, Nat. What a change, eh? I'm glad she's learned that it isn't necessary to be on the offensive all the time.

She is stunning Nat!!

My dear friend with the deaf cat has 4 cats in her household and had another deaf cat for 14 years that lived with 2 other cats. Both of them had issues with the other cats in her household and those cats had issues with the deaf cat. They just can't relate in the normal cat way and it does create a lot of tension and confusion with them. Once they figure it out (it took them years), they gain a peaceful coexistance but don't make a lot of close friends.
