Thank you all very much!

GurlPower, I had to leave... my parents were going to town to go shopping and I had to drive them. Fun fun fun. I hate learning how to drive, which is why I really hope to get this job because it's just around the corner.
And I'm really sorry my attachment didn't work. I'll have to get my computer skills up to par if I get this job, lol.

Thank you very much. You are all so helpful!

Should I put my first aid courses on it? My mom says I should but I'm not sure.
The job really has nothing to do with first aid but she says I should...

Yes, especially if it's CPR. That's the kind of thing that you never know when you're going to need it. Plus, it looks good that you took the time to take the course! Good luck!

Well, my certificate says "Basic First Aid" but CPR was included in the course. I guess it can't be bad to put it on there.

Hi Jenn!

I work with employers all the time (in fact I input job orders on the internet). Make sure that you include your computer skill, eg proficient in Word, Lotus, Access. It helps if you name the programmes. Include a coverletter specific to the company you are applying with explaining why you want to work with them and how you will be an asset.

If you don't get that job go to the www.jobbank.gc.ca site (I help administer the site) and click on student jobs - we are getting quite a few posted lately!

Good luck

Thank you, Ady! I'll check out that site.

I handed in my resume and letter today. I still wasn't sure about the whole "written" application letter, so I did one envelope with everything typed and one envelope with the same, but the letter handwritten (in the nicest cursive I could manage - I'm a lefty, and we're definitely not known for our penmanship!
). Anyway, I asked the lady at the front if she could clarify what they meant for me, and sure enough they wanted it handwritten. (I don't know why they wanted it like that, but I'm glad I was prepared!). She was very nice.

My mom even made me get dressed up. LOL. If I do get this job, it'll be a good excuse to get some new clothes.
All I own are jeans, and only one good pair of pants.
I dunno if holey jeans and an "I Am Canadian!" tee would go over too well.

Thanks very much for all your help and encouragement, everybody.

Good for your mom! I had a job interview today and I wore tailored, black gabardine trousers, a flowered button-down shirt and black wedge-heeled pumps. I got the job.

Thank you guys!

Ady, do you have anything to do with the formatting of the site? I just thought I might let you know that there's a typo. After you click to go to the English version, on the page that comes up, it reads: "Are you looking for student job". I think there should be an 'a' in there somewhere. Sorry... I just thought you might like to know, I'm not trying to be nitpicky.

I know she was right, Cindy. Congrats on the job!

I don't have any really fancy clothes, but I wore a white blouse and a khaki (sp?) jumper. I guess I'll get some nice pants from the second hand store if I get called for an interview.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Jen, I haven't been around for a few days, and look what I miss! I'm so glad you got so much encouragement and great advice, though!!! I hope it goes well, and I'm sure they'll call you for an interview!

Gotcha in my prayers.
