SOS Aby Lovers

SOS Fairfax County Shelter in NOVA has what looks to be
a PURE Aby in the shelter! Came in July 11 as a lost pet, still
there.

They have mislabled it as an Oriental Shorthair = dunnn. Its a blue
aby.

Please if you love abys and live near there, take a look. Maybe rescue
could make a place for him. I have 5 right now - currently working on Frodo the Siamese mix, and no room. Plus I don't think I can adopt from the Fairfax Shelter (my jurisdiction too far away??)

This CAT - ID#A030591

Look on Petharbor for Fairfax County animal shelter zip 22015 will work.

Thanks All!

blue Abys are my favorite type... but i couldn't find the one you listed. maybe he's been adopted by now?
not that i live close enough, anyway... or need ANOTHER cat!

Opilot, can you contact this shelter and let them know they have this kitty misidentified? Seal point Oriental short hair isn't even close!

If they list him as a blue Abby his owner might actually find him. I have no doubt his owner is looking. Also, have you checked the craigslist lost/ and pet listings for your area? I am willing to bet someone is missing this cat and there are lost listings and fliers all over the place.

I will do the searches if you can PM me area details.

I couldn't find the listing either... Can you post the link to the cat's page?

Petharbor is set up so you cannot share links to animals. You have to send an email to the person you want to see the animal. He is still listed. I got the email sent to me and they have an encripted link. I don't know if it will transfer or not

This animal record may be found here

If the link doesn't work.
go to www.petharbor.com

put in the zip code 22015
check fairfax county animal control

then go to ID search. IMPORTANT you must search with only A030591
If you have the ID# part in the search it will not work.

ETA: Link works now so click on the word here above and it will take you to the kitty's information. If you get nothing, it means that cat has been removed from their data base

ETA2: I just spoke to the shelter. They said his secondary listing is listed as a blue aby. Also he is very very skinny so likely has been out quite a while. She said is is very frightened so is acting feral. They have already contacted an Aby rescue about this boy.

THANK YOU ALL esp. kitty monster (?) for doing this research.

Abys are very bad at being disrupted! No wonder he is
acting out and feral. I bet he is like my Frodo boy,
whom they called feral, but after 3 months at my
house Frodo boy is pettable!! No way he is anything
like feral.

I hope Aby Rescue can find a place. I'd make temp. space
for him in a heart beat. I know an Aby breeder in MD too,
could ask him about it.

Anyone want me to follow up, or do you think he is
in progress to a "rescue" from the shelter??

Let me know!

(And yes, its nice to know I wasn't
wrong about a blue aby vs a Siamese Oriental color point!!

ROFL. I did not think I was any where close to making THAT
kind of a mis classification mistake!)

he is drop dead GORGEOUS! good thing i don't live closer, or i'd have 6 cats by now!

Poor guy looks terrified! I would follow up to see if the rescue is going to take him.

Update:

I hear that the Aby is on his way down to North Carolina to an Aby rescue foster/or a real home with an aby lover!!! He is on his way to Annapolis today, from there he is heading to NC. Lucky, lucky boy!!!

Thank you everyone for posting and confirming my suspicions and
for calling the shelter to clue them into his real breed identity!
