Hi, my name is Stephanie and I've been lurking here for about a week and learned so much. Anyways, here's my cat history: As of a few months ago I had a 14 yr old shetland sheepdog and no kitties. One day I was walking my dog outside and this sweet fearless kitty comes up to me and rubs on my leg and lets me pet her. She even flipped on her back and let me rub her belly. Over the next couple weeks my bf and I kept seeing her outside and playing with her.
One night there was a bad thunderstorm so we took her in our apartment for a few hours. She was a sweetheart and got along fine with our dog. We wanted to keep her but was sure she had to belong to someone because she was so nice so we let her back outside and didn't see her for a few days.
At this point I really wanted a kitty so my bf and I kept looking at them at Petsmart. We fell in love with one at Petsmart and I was all excited to go get her when I realized her tag said "cannot be with dogs"- I was crushed and my bf and I went home kittyless.
We got home and guess who was sitting on our doorstep?!? The kitty we kept seeing outside was there! It was a sign! We took her inside again and figured we'd ask around, make found cat signs and if no one said anything in 4 days then I'd take her to the vet to get checked out. Well no one claimed her so we've had her since April 19th. About 3 weeks later my 14 yr old dog passed away- it's almost like my dog didn't want me to be lonely so she waiting to pass until this kitty showed up out of nowhere
We named her Kara and here are some pics (the vet thinks she's between 1 and 2 yrs old, she weighs 7 lbs):
Now fast forward to July 5th. My bf and I were running errands near our local animal shelter and decided to go in because we had never been there before. Well we fell in love with this sweet little boy: http://www.aacspca.org/view_animal.php?animalid=15377
We brought him home about a week and a half ago. I followed all the advice on this board about introductions and it went great! They have been together for 4 days now and are fine. He's 13 weeks old.
We changed his name from Fluffy to Kirby
