Oh my goodness! How awful! I'm so glad you were ok! We've had a few families in our community die because of a drunk driver
I really hate drunk drivers.

And I'm glad you made sure he was caught!

I'm glad that it wasn't serious! Good job in helping to catch the jerk!

I strongly, strongly advise you to go to the ER and get checked out. Sounds like you have whiplash, and you will need a medical report if you need to file a claim for medical coverage or missed work etc.

I agree!

Kudos to you for chasing the jerk down, Monique!
I despise drunk drivers!
I hope they throw the book at that guy!!

I'm glad you didn't get seriously injured.
I hope you'll be okay!

I'm so glad you are ok!!

I used to prosecute DUIs, it is unbelievable how many people drive after drinking. Then there are the people who show up for their court appearance for their DUI charge, and they are drunk then too.

I wonder what they are going to charge him with (and how many priors he's had....)

The time before last that I was called for jury duty, it turned out that it was a drunk driving case. When I told them I had driven over 1,000,000 miles without an at-fault accident, but that I'd been hit by 3 drunk drivers in that time, they decided to dismiss me.

In cases like yours, I think they should impound and auction his car and leave him walking.

all what the cop said was he was being charged with DUI, failed to stop after the accident and then he said a whole bunch of other things! Whatever that meant? I was so disfunctional at the time, it all wasn't registering what
he was telling me! They impounded the vehicle, which they said was a company truck, and I did find out the name of the insurance co. that his
co. uses, but not the name of the company (who he works or worked) for
but I will Monday whenever I get the report! You said you used to prosecute
DUIs? Can I PM you?

minding my own business, trying to be careful and some jerk almost kills
me, and to think my son has already lost one parent to a traffic accident!
That erks me!!! It sheds a new light on a lot of things! Why? What is it
about alcohol that makes people so stupid, they already know the law , and
they are going to break it by driving, but they will fight you for the keys everytime, still wanting to drive! I just don't get that!!???

OMG Im so glad you are okay! Since he hit you he should have to pay you Restitution, which means all of your hospital bills plus damage to the car, but the judge wont award that until they get to court, make sure to file insurance claim right away, the insurance company can do alot more than we give them credit for!
Im just glad you're alright!

Thanks Me too!!!I have already filed a claim with my own insurance, hopefully we'll be reinbursted by the companies insurance, but I was ready for my car to be fixed, and plus I can't open my door, so I needed a rental!
I think I will be attaining a lawyer! Haven't felt very well today, my whole body is hurting pretty bad!I will get checked tomorrow! This is all such an inconvienence, I can't believe I am paying dearly for his dump actions!!
That right there really bothers me!! I have to go to the drs. , get a rental,
set up for my new car to be fixed, and now it won't be worth what it was
pre accident! Plus I am now gun shy when driving! Oh and the mere thought
of "he could have killed me" just does something to me!

Then he took off again across the median, and back the other way!
Luckily I was still talking to the police, I gave them a decription of his truck and they did stop him and took him to jail, meanwhile my car is messed up, I'm so thankful that I am not hurt to bad, but my body is dka in starting to hurt and I have a huge headache! What a jerk! I'm so luckily they caught him!!I did have a really cute police officer come to my rescue

I am so glad that you are mostly OK. I read once - I don't remember the hours - but you are more likely to be hit on Saturday night than the rest of the nights put together. I was hit by an 18 wheeler one Saturday night and the police found a half empty (or full) bottle of vodka in the cab, they cited him and let him drive off! I oft wonder whether he hit anybody else that night.

The fact that it is a company truck puts things in a very different light. You should be seen by a doctor immediately, and tell him everything that might hurt, even if you think it's not important right now. Then, get a lawyer. Unless he was using the truck entirely without permission (and that means he had to take the keys from a secured location), the company is going to be liable. And in my experience, their insurance company will drop a bundle right away just to stay out of court. The same goes for Lee; if you get hit by an 18-wheeler, and you don't get $20,000 just for not going to court, you didn't try.

I agree with Mike. If he was using a company owned vehicle whatever company it is their insurance company will be paying your claim/damages.
Do you have any bruises??-Take pictures of them. You must go to doctor to have them assess your injuries from this claim. I'm sure there is an attorney that would take this case but remember they will get a good chunk of a settlement. If you do not get an attorney do not accept the first offer that his insurance company offers-I wouldn't be surprised if you heard from them this week already.

Sounds like a good plan for her, but I'm really shocked from her story, is she (or are you) okay?
I feel like there is really less education in the country against drinking, there should be commercials about it just like the ones against DVD piracy you see in many movies etc. If people won't be aware of the results caused by being drunk then it won't stop here - she's 1 victim and luckily still alive, but what do we do to prevent it from happening again?
