Right as you know Piper and Poppy are orphans. Well, Sunday night Piper threw up twice. I thought OK, she probably just has a fish allergy as I fed her some fish kitten food. She was okay and frisky afterwards. So yesterday, Monday, we ran out of KMR. The nearest place were out til wednesday and we didn't want to drive into town to get some. So we had to get goats milk. They loved it, and pretty soon Piper finally had a pasty stool for the first time in several days. No canned food today in case that was what set her off. She was fine at 11PM. Then at 2:00 AM I went in there to feed them, and she was lying on the floor with a pile of milky vomit. A few inches away in her basket were were big lumps of diarrhea. She was passed out on the floor, but she lifted her head when I whistled to her. I went and got my mom and we held her. She was limp, couldn't move but to part her legs for a belly rub. All the time purring like there was no tomorrow. So at 3:00 we finally left her to die, assumably, wrapped in a blanket. Mom woke up to check on her at 7:00 and there she was, frisky as anything, halfway up and down the cage. She ate 2 tablespoons of my last bit of KMR. Poppy is fine. We are getting KMR today and will contact the animal shelter about a vet visit. So, a lesson to you all; kittens don't like it when they have pure KMR one feeding and goats milk the next. I shoulda known!!
