Okay so my 7 week and 4 day old cat Jinxy was sat with our dog today ,and all of a sudden she pounced at Janey the dogs nipples and started sucking.

She got upset when she could not get milk so i got some kitten milk and put it in a baby's bottle to see if it would comfort her.

Sure enough she took to the bottle.
She drank until her little belly was full and kissed me appreciatively

I think she is wanting it for comfort more then anything..
The breeder told us she had stopped feeding from mum when she was 6 weeks or just before.
Is there normal..
Maybe i should not of bottle fed her but she was really craving it.

Kittens will nurse till Mom stops it. Ours nursed untill 8 1/2 weeks, when we got rid of the Mom. Now today at almost 6 months, one cat Bandit, will suck on a blanket or pillow and kneed on it for 15 mins. or so.
Let her nurse, a little longer, IMO it can't hurt her..............I am no expert, just someone who has kittens.

I just took in a new foster kitten this weekend. She is about 4 months old and was still nursing from her mom!! (Poor momma cat!!). They really needed to separate her so she would stop, and she had been in a cage her whole life anyway, so I took her. lol.

I wouldn't encourage the bottle, but if she stops eating other stuff or isn't eatin enough than maybe offer it to her. The longer they are on it, it seems the harder it is to wean them!!!

She does not live with her mumma

She was frustrated and upset and was not really bonding well , when i saw her suckling on our dog i thought about it , got her a bottle and sure enough she was so happy and bright and confident lol.

She has had a bottle twice today and seems happier , but by 10 weeks we are hoping she will have NO need for the bottle.

I noticed today she is not eating as much as i thought so i do not think the milk will hurt her.

She will eat some wet food then a few mouthfuls of milk then she will go about her buisness i personally will lit her drink the kitten milk until she is happy , her half brother who is almost 10 weeks who lives with us has no need nor want for kitten milk in a bottle or in a bowl.

And she just may be that kind of cat...not all cats fit the so-called 'normal' behaviour. She isn't being abnormal...she just still likes to suckle. Some take longer than others...just like kids...it all seems to be a contest...who talks first, who walks first, who weans first, who toilet trains first, etc. Just take your time, enjoy your kitty and make her happy doing somthing that isn't that bad a thing to do.

She is a sweetie...enjoy her....and her cuddles and kisses......
