Our 6 year anniversary is Thursday and Friday will make one year until the wedding. I want to get my fiance something but I don't have a lot of money.

The only thing I can think of is a subscription to his favourite magazine. We have this associate club from work and theres a bunch of stuff for cheap and I can get the subscription for $20 compared to over $6 per month he normally spends on it. Does that sound like a good present? I know its not romantic or anything but I really have no other ideas.
He is so hard to buy for. If I don't buy it for him for our anniversary, I will be buying it for him for his birthday in September.

What about making a scrapbook of all your years together? Pictures, mementos..etc...

I am thinking of doing that for Josh for his wedding present.

I made him a scrapbook for our first anniversary. I put all the movie tickets and stuff from everything we had done together over the first year. I don't know if I would have enough to put in one now because I don't keep anything anymore.

What all do you put in a scrapbook?

Honey, honestly if you want something special, take that $20 and invest part of it in some good body lotion, invest the rest into a good steak (or whatever he likes), cook him a good dinner, serve him his dinner in the sexiest thing you own, give him a long back rub, and treat him like a king. And...well, you get the idea.

Basically, the subscription he would enjoy for a year. The memories of that night he will enjoy for a lifetime! Of course, ONE of you will have to beat that next year (and guess what, it won't be you!

What about a nice key chain? You could even have it engraved. This way he can have it with him and when he pulls it out to use it, he will think of you

I read certain magazines and getting subscriptions to them is very nice-but its kinda practical so scrouge up a few more $$ to do something fun-a can of whip cream is only a couple of bucks!!

I dont know if you go by what each Wedding Anniversary Year Materials are

Like 1st (paper & plastic&clocks), 2nd (cotton&china), 3rd(leather&crystal) & so on

6th is Candy & Iron

My husband & I have always followed that, JUST so that we can narrow it down... last year for our 6th PICKED something Candy or Iron & you have a gift... not that whole... what do you want honey... what is the perfect gift honey... then you have something to go on... & its kind of fun...

Some Candy & a lil' bit of wife... its all a man needs... 'trust me'

12th Anniversary – silk, linen, pearl - Now THERE is where it will get spicy

They aren't married yet. It's just a 6th anniversary of being together. They are getting married next year, so the traditional wedding anniversary gifts don't really apply in this case.

My thought was the same as Hope's...invest the money in making a nice dinner, put on something slinky, and give him a really special night.

Maybe I will just try to make him dinner. I say try because I am a horrible cook.

We live with his parents so it makes it hard to do a whole lot. I certainly can't serve him dinner in something sexy.
That would be interesting with his mom and dad around.

You can always give a rain check on the "sexy" outfit with dinner
Rob's parents went out of town one weekend, so the day they left (Thursday), I had made him take a different car to work (we usually carpool), then picked up some food, attempted to cook (came out rather well!), and had a sexy surprise outfit I bought earlier. He couldn't concentrate on his dinner all that well

I can COMPLETELY understand how hard it is when you live with the SO's parents to do fun sexy things like that.

You all have some great ideas! I may have to "borrow" one, if that's ok with you.

Couldn't help but notice, though, an interesting point. Now, I could be wrong, but from what I can tell, we had one man respond to this post. The women all gave great, romantic ideas. The man was quite happy with the magazine idea! Just shows a difference from ment to women. Women tend to like romance, some men tend otherwise.

Glad we got your input, Rigel! I know my husband would be the same as you.
And yet, I still want to steal some of those great ideas!

Well then, use the money to treat his parents to a movie so you two can have some alone time. Dinner optional

His parents seriously never leave the house. The last time they went out together was last summer. His mom goes out sometimes, but his dad just sits home all day every day (he doesn't work) and sleeps and watches tv.

Last time they went out was nice though. We went to the store and got stuff to make our favourite meal and cooked together and had candlelit dinner with wine.

I wish we could. We don't have any extra money to spend. His dad gave us money to fix our car last week, so we have to pay that back this week, plus car insurance is due this week (thats $130), plus rent, bills, groceries, gas and our engagement party is in 2 weeks, we have stuff to buy for that and if there is any money left over we have to save for the wedding. We still have to pay the deposit to the photographer and the church.
