Hey everyone.
I'm fairly new here and I'm not sure if this thread has been previously posted or not.

My 4 year old cat got into some oil some how, she's a white cat and when she came home the other week, she was completely covered in oil to the point where her fur was completely black. I washed out her fur and she's back to being white, but parts of her fur is oily feeling and a bit stringy looking.
Lately, she's been losing quite a bit of weight and sleeping a lot.
My question is, is this normal or is there some way she could have gotten sick from the oil?
I don't think she licked any of it, but maybe she got to it before I found her.
Hopefully someone can answer this.

Not yet. I haven't had a chance. Our vet went on vacation and there isn't another around here. Which is why I came here.

It's very possible she licked at the oil before you cleaned her. I would be taking her to an emergency vet if it were my cat. It sounds as though she is sick and a vet may be able to give her some type of antidote for the oil she probably swallowed.

How long ago did this happen? You say "lately" she's losing weight and is lethargic which alarms me.

She seems to be doing a little better today.
But I think I'll still try to contact the vet.
Thank you for the help.
