Hi--I haven't been around for quite some time, mostly due to the flooding of Cedar Rapids, where my daughter & son-in-law were living--we have been so busy removing damaged household items and cleaning and tearing out walls to prevent mold from spreading, we've had time for little else. (My husband & I moved out of this home 2 years ago, had lived there for 25 years, without so much as a drop of water in the basement, and during this unprecedented flood, the water rose up 2 feet into the first floor!)

When my daughter, her husband and 2 children were evacuated, we were glad to open our home to them--good thing we had built a nice roomy one! But they also brought their 2 tabby cats "Tiger" & "Tippy", who were headquartered in the basement; plus my son, (who also still lives with us) recently adopted a male black cat, nearly 1 year old--so, in addition to these newcomers are my two Siamese boys, Quincy & Quasar, who don't quite know what to make of their territory being invaded by all these strange kitties!

My son's kitty (aply named "Blackie") has spent most of his time upstairs with his owner, but when he does come down amidst the others, my two very obviously resent his presence--"the Siamese brothers" catch sight of him, stalk him, and oftentimes a row ensues. "Blackie" is definitely the most unwelcome of the newbies. However, Quincy & Quasar don't seem to mind "Tiger" nearly so much (he is an easygoing, fearless, independent sort --not afraid of anything), whereas Blackie slinks away like a streak, if he feels threatened! 2nd tabby "Tippy" is not an issue here; he's kept in the confines of the basement, due to his sloppy litterbox habits, and doesn't seem to mind it too much.

Has anyone else had an experience like this, where so many felines were kept in one household, out of necessity--did they ever learn to accept each other, or can we expect to continue to witness run-ins and squabbles?
Any suggestions?

I have 4 Cats and am getting another one. All mine get along except Sasha and Oreo fight sometimes. My brother has 6 Cats and he has problems with some of the Males. Nermal is locked in the other room because he fights them. He also had to get rid of two males because they tried to kill each other. They even locked their jaws together and had to be pulled apart with gloves and the broom.

Oh goodness, I've never heard of two cats fighting that badly. They must have really hated each other's guts or something. Usually cats would rather avoid a fight and posture instead to scare the other off, don't they?
