If you ever see a mistake in my reporting, please pm me and I will take care of it immediately!

The July 11 KatKwery has Monaxlisa using scratch(ed), which many people used, but she was first. Same thing with bit(e), luvmycat1 was first. And ear(s) was used by many but Welderwomn was first. Notice(d) and search(ed) were not used. Click on KatKwery standings below to see the very latest standings.

And now for the July 12 KatKwery (cat query) questions.

Since the kat's avatar is not one that can be picked from the ready made avatars, do you know how they produced the spinning spiral? Have you ever had any problems getting the avatar you wanted to have? Do you know what the size limitations are for avatars and at what levels you must be at to produce the various avatars available? Do you know how to get an animated avatar even though you are at a lower level cat (such as young cat)? If I wanted to, how big of an avatar could I have?

It is a lot of fun to read the answers to these questions and we have steady readers of this thread. For those of you only reading other's answers, why not try and play? There are only 81 days left in the season and you only have to win 5 times to be in the top eight which would mean you would be in the playoffs which the kats guarantee is going to be lots and lots of fun.

BTW, I use these questions to determine what people know about so that I can use KatKwiz questions to cover areas that need to be covered.

Your avatar is cool Lee. I'm guessing you chose the custom avatar option. My green alien cat is a custom one. I'm not to sure on the size measurements but I know they have to be thumbnail. I think you can use custom avatars at young cat level. That's how you could get an animated one. I might be wrong though. I have no idea how big you could make your avatar. I've been thinking of changing mine soon.

The spinning spiral was made custom and then uploaded from the computer. I'm going to guess that the maximum avatar size is 120x120, but the FAQ didn't seem to specify the size limit... just wild guess. I've no problem resizing JPEGs, but I have no idea how to resize GIFs. It would be cool to get some directions though! I'm not high enough in rank to get the "custom avatar" option, but it is only a matter of time until that is unlocked. I'm "Alpha Cat" at the moment, and oooh, actually I just ranked up (from adult to alpha). As I scroll through the different pre-defined avatar images, I can see that I just started getting some animated gifs. Neat! Hmm, it might be due time for me to change my avatar.

in order to upload a custom avatar like yours, one must reach SuperCat status, defined as: 700 posts and 120 days in membership
all the info on avatars, usertitles, etc. can be found here: TCS user titles & perks
the only problem i've ever had is that i wanted a custom animated avatar, but don't have the ability to create one.... but one was most kindly made for me by a sig artist
as a paying member, a larger/custom avatar can be attained prior to reaching the SuperCat status.
Paying members have access to some of these perks without the minimum posting and days in membership requirements. Paying members have the option to switch ads on and off, and they receive a few extra perks such as a larger PM box with room for up to 150 messages and the ability to upload up to 800KB in attachments.
the size limitation is also larger for paying members - since you are one, your avatar could be as large as mine if you wanted. also, paying members can do color/shadow/glow customizations to their usernames & usertitles, as well as use a custom usertitle prior to reaching TopCat status.

Congratulations!
Yesterday was SO insane for me I didn't get a chance to play! Darn, that would have been a good set of questions to answer!

No, I don't know how to make a spinning anything! I know how to use Paint to make custom pictures, or to customize a picture already taken, but I don't know how to animate it. I would guess it takes a special program, but couldn't even begin to guess what it is.

I wouldn't say I've had a problem getting it, per se. I'm pretty simple, so I'd want a custom picture on my avatar, or I don't care what it is. So, when I got to, um, young cat status, I picked this cute kitty on the book "learning", and since I like it, even when I got to adult cat status I haven't found one I like better so I left it. So, it's no problem, it's just that I can not get what I want (a custom one) until I either pay or reach super cat (I think!).

Until I read other peoples' answers / responses, no, I didn't know there was a size limit. Similar to my answer to the my cat page question, I always assumed that all you did was upload a picture, and the cat site would make it the right size to fit. Guess I know better now for when I reach super cat!

I know that with each "level" of your status- kitten, young cat, etc- you have a different selection of avatars available. At least, I think you get more options with each level. Though I think with the first or first and second levels you are not allowed an avatar at all.

The only way I know of to get a different selection of avatars than the standards at an earlier level is to become a premium member.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't even begin to be able to guess what the maximum size of an avatar is in computer-speak. I would guess, on my screen, the biggest you can have is about 1 inch by 1 inch!
Or to guess, I could use what Naia says of 120 x 120 (thanks Naia!
). If I had more time I could try to look it up.

And now for the July 12 KatKwery (cat query) questions.

I have no idea how they made the spinning spiral but its always looked interesting to me! I dont have alot of time to answer today since its my sons 3rd b-day and he's still awake due to sugar high! I never had a problem getting the avatars, however Ive never tried any animated or moving ones. To get the one I got now I had to resize it to be thumbnail size which is like
120x 120 for the custom ones, and like 100x 75 pixels or something, I dont really know because I think thumbnail and avatars are different sizes but Im too tired to think about it! The main reason I got a premium membership was to get the avatar I wanted!! I dont remember whether its young cat or adult that you can customize but it was easier for me just to get a subscription! The max avatar you can have 120 x 120 pixels or 29.3 kb, whichever is smaller, okay now you made me work and Im off to bed! Oh I missed one, to get a custom avatar early you have to get a paying membership! Which is awesome and I love it!
