Positive Energy/Prayers needed

My uncle, my moms brother, has been diagnosed with lung and liver cancer. They think it may be in his bone marrow as well. He goes in for chemo and radiation in a few days and hes pretty scared. The doctor told him that the best case scenario is that he has 4-5 years at most to live

My mom has lost two brothers in the last few years, one to cancer similar to this brother.

Please send your good thoughts/prayers out to my uncle and all the family members/frineds affected by this. Thanks...

I am sending out prayers to you and your loved ones. Just remember "When something happens, good or bad, consider what it means. There's a purpose to all lifes events, to teach us how to not cry too hard or how to laugh a little." and also remember "God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for those tears, and light for the way." Not that I want to get preachy but now is the time to cherish him and save for mourning for later, celebrate his life with him!! Dali :blossom:

Thanks everyone- I know how much magic this board has

I went to visit him today and hes trying very hard to be his positive, jovial self. Right now hes in a lot of pain, and is on Morphine several times a day. The doctors are hoping that after his treamtments he won't need all the pain meds, and that his appetite may come back. He's lost a lot of weight and is very weak- we convinced him to eat a little today, but he needs to be as strong as possible for the chemo.

I'd really appreciate you keeping him in mind in the next little bit, during all the treatments and tests.

Oh Melissa, I'm so sorry to hear about this!!!! What terrible news. Of course I've got your Uncle, you and your family in my prayers.

How did the first treatment go? Is he eating? Will he need to take drugs to boost his appetite?

I hope everything is going as well as it can, and I'll keep him in my prayers.

A little update on my uncle- He started his chemo treatments today. He had biopsies done and they determined that he has a very agressive form of cancer that has spread to most of his organs

The doctor said that without the chemo, his life expectancy was 3-5 weeks. With the chemo he has at most 4-5 months. Of course, this is speculation on the part of the doctors- theres a chance the chemo could set him into remission and that could last who knows how long.

This is very hard on us all- to see him getting so sick, so fast. He is a very proud man, and has recently been forced to start using a wheelchair. My mom said that he cried when he realized his ability to walk on his own was now gone. This is all so heartbreaking, and to know that it came from his lifetime of smoking makes it even harder. My mom is so scared because shes lost two brothers to smoking related illnesses, and my dad still smokes.

Please keep sending out positive energy/prayers to my uncle and his family.
