In another thread where we were discussing shows we watched, someone listed what series they have on their DVR list. I have quite a few things on it, but some are series that are finished for their season, but I leave them on the list.

Here's my series list...the good, the bad, and the embarassing...what's on your list?

American Idol
Lost
Top Chef
So You Think You Can Dance
The Mole
Two and a Half Men
How I Met Your Mother
Supernanny
Starsky and Hutch (just in case an old rerun shows up...hasn't in awhile)
Meerkat Manor
The Big Bang Theory
Project Runway
America's Next Top Model
A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila

The New Adventure of the Old Christine
Battlestar Galactica (the original series)
American Idol Rewind
Celebrity Fit Club

I've never heard of that before. Sounds great though. I just have regular cable so I don't have the option to record shows without using my VCR and I certainly can't pause "live" programs.

Our DVR -we bought seperate from our provider- so even if we get it disconnected down the road- (from what i understand, i could be wrong!) we should still be able to record/pause shows/etc. It's really neat! I've never even had satellite up until febuary, so i'm totally in awe at the tv now
(it's kinda sad!
) We wound up getting a packaged deal when we got our tv from best buy so we got the dvr as well then. There are several different kinds and several different price ranges from what i understand.

You are all so rich. I don't see the day in the near future when I'll ever have a DVR, let alone cable. I'd feel special if I could just afford cable TV. I do have a DVD player and a VCR, but DVR's and Cable TV are waaaaay out of my reach right now.

My apartment window faces the wrong direction for satellite tv. Those mini dish type need to be pointed South, and my window faces North

That stinks! I guess cable is the only option in that case then. I think you can still use DVR's with cable but i'm not sure. I don't know enough about them! I'm still getting used to having more than just 5 channels

We switched to digital cable in January cuz comast kept taking channels away from regular cable and making them digital only, yet our cable prices were going up! (And they'd replace the taken channel with another home shopping one or a spanish one ugh)... we got 2 boxes and the one is a DVR our list includes:

Deadliest Catch
After the Catch
Girls Next Door (my dad gives me crap for watching it haha)
Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
2.5 Men
Law and Order: SVU
Country Fried Home Videos (just the episode my dog is on - gotta transfer it to VHS)
Red Sox vs Rays when a giant brawl broke out
A couple important NASCAR races (though they've been transfered, so can be deleted lol)
ER
The Office
Scrubs
Bill Engvall

Most of them are set just to record when it's a new episode... there are a few random things like a movie and a couple news specials, but they'll get deleted when they get watched

I have a ton, but right my DVR is 95% full of Law & Order SVU
I think I have almost all the episodes
I'm trying to get them all so I can watch them in order
you know, instead of just getting the DVDs thru Netflix
Given that I'm so full right now though, the very first episode is on this Sunday at 4 on USA, so I may have to start watching what episodes I have and catch the ones I don't have as they come on

the shows I have set to automatically record are:
Heroes
America's Next Top Model
Desperate Housewives
Dancing With the Stars
Women's Murder Club (cancelled)
The Closer
Ugly Betty
Grey's Anatomy
American Idol
Moonlight
Terminator: Connor Chronicles
Lost
Lipstick Jungle (cancelled)
New Amsdterdam (cancelled)
Canterbury's Law (cancelled)
Miss Guided (cancelled)
Samantha Who?
Bones
House
So You Think You Can Dance
America's Best Dance Crew
American Gladaitors
The Bachelorette
Celebrity Circus
America's Got Talent
Law & Order CI (the new ones on USA)
Wipeout
I survived a Japanese Game Show
Celebrity Family Feud
Dance Machine
Make Me a Supermodel

good gracious I watch a lot of TV
looks like I can go thru and delete a few of those too

Since DVRs are now standard for Dish, we've got 3 of them.

One of them is soley under Earl's control. That one has a mix of rock stuff (for his radio show), History Channel stuff (he was an Army brat during the Cold War, and then was Missile Maintenance (nuclear) so there's a lot of that), and obscure movies that are only on HBO like once at 2:00 in the morning and he records them.

The one in the bedroom only has the new series of The Venture Brothers (Adult Swim - Earl's favorite show, and I have to admit it is a great show).

The one downstairs on the HDTV has a few 1/2 hour or hour concerts (Sugarland, Tori Amos, someone else I can't remember), Discovering Denver (so we can be better hosts when we have guests!), all of John Adams miniseries on Showtime, and The Venture Brothers in HD.

What we have it set to always record new episodes (pretty short list, actually):

Grey's Anatomy
Nashville Star
The Venture Brothers
Dirt (
it was cancelled, better delete that one)

Depends on if you mean what I am recording or my roommate...

I have...

Design Star
Iron Chef (Japanese and American!)
Jeopardy (cause I don't get home in time to watch!)
Burn Notice
The Next Food Network Star
Dead Like Me (for the reruns...)
America's Next Top Model
Project Runway
Animal Cops
Ghost Hunters
Extreme Makeover Home Edition
Most Haunted
Food Network Challenge
Dexter
Ace of Cakes

(Just realized I record 80% of the series)...

If you put in American Idol Rewind, you can see episodes from past seasons. Right now they're showing Season 2.

Ooo - I forgot the Sara Conner Chronicles (when's that back on?!) and Nip/Tuck! I forget about shows when they're not in their current seasons sometimes

And yay for another Girls Next Door fan haha

I also have certain shows that I watch all the time, but I only record them if I won't be home or there's a Red Sox game on (yay for buying the baseball package! Best idea EVER! And already worth what it costs IMO since when I ever get to move, it'll be south to get warmer and not up to Boston for more snow) shows like: Simpsons, Family Guy, Extreme Home Makeover, Mobile Home Disaster (for some reason, I like watching Cap haha)

DVR was GREAT when we were away and not able to watch the NASCAR All-Star race this year because the driver that my family follows retired part way through this season, and the all-star race was the last time he'd ever get in a race car... I DVRed that (plus his last "real" race) and as part of dad's father's day gift, I transfered them to VHS (no DVD recorder
) and made nice labels for them so he always has them
