When I write a post, the font color option is not working.
If I click the large Capital A...
a tiny white box opens where the color options would normally be.
Fonts, Sizes and Smilies are working....
just not the font color option.

What browser are you using?

I'm using Firefox and do not have a problem.

All the editor formatting runs on javascript. You might have gotten javascript disabled or some other wrong setting. The only thing I can think of trying if you're using IE is to go to the Advanced tab of the Internet Options and click on Restore Defaults.

Here's a plug for the Windows version of the Safari browser. I downloaded it today from the Apple website. So far, everything works perfectly with it and it does a lovely job of rendering page layouts.

This happened after TCS's vBulletin upgrade the other day....

Would one of you post a short test reply, using a font color please.

It seems to be working for me. Try clearing your browser cache, Lei.

Using IE7 / XP service pk. 2

This happened after TCS's upgrade.
There is a conflict somewhere.
It might be a simple fix on my part but I need someone that knows more about this than I do to figure it out.
HELP

PS...I discovered that I can manually add color to a font.
so we know that part is working.
Just not the large A option in the message tool bar, with all of the color options.

Woops....I downloaded Sun's Jave.

Guess I can delete that.

I followed your link and downloaded the latest Javascript.
It still does not work.

Thanks for trying.

Since the upgrade, the only message editor interfaces that work in Options are...
Enhanced Interface or Basic Editor.
Standard Editor, which I always used in the past, is not working.
I don't know if this is significant info.

I have to admit that I've blocked all attempts by my computer to upgrade to IE 7, even though I very rarely use IE, because it doesn't seem to be compatible with many sites.

Several tweaks may be necessary to get things running smoothly again here, but that's par for the course with hardware and software. Oh, well, it makes life more exciting!

I think I recall that you have Firefox on your computer? Maybe you could switch to that for the time being?

You have an excellent memory.

I deleted Firefox some time ago.

I check my system info and found that I had recently upgraded to Windows XP service pk "3"...
I wonder if that could be the issue?

~~~~~~~
Edit...
I downloaded FireFox...
still had the problems.
ewwww, I'm not gonna do the SP3. This post is being edited in Safari, and the fonts work fine.
There's the problem. I just installed SP3, and the box isn't showing any colors now.ETA, it's still working with Firefox, but not IE.
Again ETA: Lei, the problem seems to be the very latest Security Update (KB951748, at least in the German version) If you uninstall that, you should get the colors back in the box)
I checked my windows updates and that one is there...
however, it was downloaded and installed with a group of other updates yesterday.
The problem started the day of TCS upgrade, which was Sunday I think.
I do think that you have isolated the problem...
it is not a browser issue but a security update conflict between Windows and vBulletin's latest upgrade.
Because my immediate panic has receded, I now realize that this is not a critical issue that must be fix immediately so I am going to proceed with caution.
I have been known to delete vital files that killed my computer dead.
You have been a great help Tricia.
Lets stay on this.
Thanks
together, marching forward into the future, we will solve this problem...
blah blah blah.
Uninstalling that file fixed the problem for me, but I'm in a completely different time zone, and I have the German version of XP. Perhaps you could try "restore system", with a date prior to Sunday?
Is there a particular reason why you're using IE? There are so many bugs in that browser, and it's slow in comparison to others. I've also found that Photobucket, which I use every day, works better with Firefox. I have it, as well as Opera and Firefox, on my computer, and switch as needed. You can have several browsers, and just set one as your "default browser". I'll probably now install the Windows version of Safari, just to test it.
