well, now, to be fair - when i used to hear it, the singer pronounce the word 'deuce' like 'douche'.
bet if the writer had recorded it, it'd been different!

Actually the writer (since we aren't naming him yet) did a version of it that was totally different in a live CD he did in Dublin. It really is a great version. But yeah, I like Manfred Manns version of it better then his studio version, BUT I like his version of Spirits in the Night (another song he wrote) better then Manfred Manns version. Just different songs and the different styles fit each one better.
