My impression, after looking around the site and watching the video, is that this place is more or less a hybrid shelter/managed colony, i.e., a compromise.
It's impossible to give hundreds of cats one-on-one attention or grooming on a daily basis or to prevent outbreaks of disease or parasite infestation, and, as another poster pointed out, the residents are hardly suitable for adoption as indoor-only cats.
Still, IMO, they're much better off than being in an unprotected, somewhat underfed colony with minimum vet care (something I'm familiar with, unfortunately), caged for life, or euthanized.
