Quick question:

Is it alright to switch litter brands ?

I don't want them to have gotten used to one thing and I buy the other because it as cheaper at the time.

I'm used to using ARM & HAMMER, but now I bought one that's made out of paper and what not.

What do you guys think?

Marilyn's gone now... but i've read that litter switches, like food switches, should be done gradually [especially if the TYPE of litter is changing!].

I've been switching litter over the last month by adding a little at a time. My two cats dont seem to even notice.

FYI Feline Pine clumping is awful!!! It tracks everywhere and stinks... Wish i hadn't switched from the great Fresh Step clumping (except it's not very healthy IMO)

I switch mine once in a while (i always stick with the same type -scooping/fine grain clumping) but sometimes i just switch brands depending on what's on sale. My favorite actually though is the Target bran of scoopable/clumping litter (the scented) it works amazingly well and i've found it better on odors than Arm & Hammer Multi Cats actually.

I think as long as you switch it gradually- add a little at a time of the new stuff each time you scoop -you'll switch ok without any problems as long as you don't have a picky kitty. If you do start to see accidents outside of the litter pan, maybe go back to what you were using before or add a little "Cat Attract" litter to it

Agree that litter switches should be gradual - the bags usually give directions - especially if you are switching types all together. However, I'm a firm believer that if you find a brand and type that the kitties like, just stick with it. It's not worth saving a dollar if you start having accidents, IMO. Then again, I've got a picky kitty, so I learned that the hard way.

The Feline Pine clumping is awful! I hated it. Regular Feline Pine is great if your cats are ok with the texture.

Just though I'd add that we are now using 'World's Best cat Litter' and it's great! I switched in one day (couldn't stad that stupid FP) and the cats like it. If your cat is young, like mine, they might go for the fast switch, but you never know.
