Hairballs??

My vet gave me stuff for hairballs. Laxatone Tuna. I'm supossed to give a quarter size. Problem-he hates it. More goes on me & his fur. And he's a small cat but, he sure can fight and make sure his jaws lock up. Has anyone got any other suggestions or something else they have used for hairballs?

Cod liver oil works for my cats. I just mix it in their wet food and it has cut down the frequency of hairballs here. That other stuff is like caramel and gets everywhere but in their mouth. Plus I feed the hairball remedy by Science Diet, I mix it with their regular feed.
