I lost Cuddles

Cuddles seemed to have aspirated some wet food on Sunday and I took him to the emergency vet. They did xrays and his lungs were cloudy. I took him to my regular vet the next morning and they prescribed antibiotics. He was on the antibiotics for two days and today, when I gave him his medicine, he took a turn for the worse. He died in my arms on the way to the vet. I'm afraid he aspirated some medicine, but the vet's assistant said that he shouldn't have gone downhill so fast. I'm getting a necropsy done to find out exactly what happened. I hope I didn't do anything wrong, but I'm mostly worried that he might have had something contagious. I have lots of other cats in the house and I've already given one away to a guy who is in love with her already. I'd hate to have to tell him that his cat was exposed to a serious disease. I'm going to be really antsy until I get those results back.
I miss him. I feel so bad.

Thank you. I'm at work now, but I keep crying on and off. I know I have way more cats than I should, but I have been doting on Cuddles because he needed extra attention from the start. He was born small and actually lost weight his first week of life. Even when his weight started picking up, it was very slow. He was by far the smallest even now. I'm anxious to see what the necropsy says, but I'm beginning to suspect some kind of congenital thing that took this long to get him.
I'm going to make a $25 donation to Cause for Paws. That's how much I would have paid them to get him neutered, if he had lived.

I'm so sorry ....what a beautiful baby he was. He was greatly loved while he was here, and I really believe he's now happy and healthy and playing over the bridge.

I know it will take awhile for me to stop feeling so terrible. It was such a bad way to go and I had to watch him die. I held him until he was gone. I hope it made him feel better.

Oh, poor baby. I'm so sorry you had to see him go like that! How terrible! I hope you find out what went wrong. I'm sure it wasn't your fault, so don't feel bad. Like you said, he may have been born with some kind of problem that noone could see. Just know that he is no longer in any pain. Our thoughts are with you!

So sorry about your Cuddles, it is never easy no matter how they go. RIP little one.

So sorry about Cuddles. Sounds like he was born with something wrong. i have seen it happen with smaller kittens we have had before also.He sure was a Cute Kitten.

I'm so sorry to hear about Cuddles. I've been following his story, and I know that you did everything in your power to care for him and save him. He was lucky to be so loved for his short little life. I'm so sad for you.

Aspiration Pneumonia is lethal in young kittens. You did eveything possible.

Each of the 3 kittens we had that this happened to, died, in spite of hospitalization and a staff of Vets tending to them.

Don't beat yourself up too much. I'm sure it was a comfort to him that you were there holding him during his last moments.

Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry for your loss You did everything you could, and gave Cuddles a great life.
