It's one thing to finally notice an ear infection, but how does one treat one?

Ophelia Rose has a very nasty ear infection.

I'm a bad meowmy as from the quick look I got, judging from the blood in her ear, she's had it awhile & it's pretty nasty. I just now noticed it.

Haven't noticed her scratching the ear a lot.

I pinned her down to take a quick swipe with a Q-Tip to see if it was wax, infection, mites, etc. Got blood & waxy stuff.

Can we get some she doesn't kill the vet? that she lets me treat her infection, too, would be appreciated (I'm not thinking Panalog in her ear 2x a day will fly well
)?

Poor girl
She's so skittish I don't get to check her out as thoroughly as I do most of the other cats.

I always use Zymox for ear infections.. it took care of the chronic infection our Cocker had that never really went away with the vet treatments. It uses enzymes instead of antibiotics. But I don't know if it's for cats too. It doesn't say anything one way or the other.

When Stimpy (and my MIL's cat, Morris) had ear infections we went to the vet and they gave us medication. Stimpy's cleared up after 1 round of treatment with the ear goo they gave us. Stimpy did NOT like it though.

My MIL's cat had both fungal and bacterial infections (different in each ear). So be careful with home treatments. Morris needed different medications for each one.

The vet said to use Panalog ointment in her ear 2x a day. I asked him if he wished me dead or what.
Will try the panalog, just hoping I can catch her 2x a day.

Zymox is the only thing that ever worked for Ramsay's chronic ear infections. Too bad we spent near two years trying every other medication on the market first.
So, yes it's also for cats, and it's not a prescription so you can either buy it from your vets office or 1800petmeds has it.
